No surprise really, shame his Hull career was blighted by injuries. Just 22 games in two seasons says it all.

Good luck to him but tbh I'm relieved he's not going to be coaching at Hull.

Shame he has to end it with a stutter rather than a bang, but it is time for him to retire. Good luck to him whatever he does. I do think he gave us hope at the beginning of last season at Saints, but unfortunately too many injuries stopped him from having any real impact. Like I said, it's a shame.

Thanks Sean for the all too few games, good luck for the future, wherever that may be.

Fantasic player for Saints the rest is history, I've met him a couple of times and a really nice bloke and I get the feeling he's embarrassed about his time with us.

Should never have being given a 2 yr contract crazy decision.

Once the clown goes maybe we could offer him a coaching role with the under 20's, doubt he'd be interested though, wouldn't be surprised to see him in coaching role soon though with the under 20's at one of the lancashire clubs.

A massive shame to see Longy bow out like this, he deserved better. A true RL legend and one of the finest scrum halves we have ever produced. A player with real character too, hope he goes well as a coach.

Although he has not achieved much at Hull FC and (with hindsight) it was a mistake to sign him, I do think a legend of the game desrves a little more respect.

I do respect him for what he acheived PRE-Hull FC. The last two years have just been a waste of everyones time and money.

I loved him in his hey day, he was possibly one of the best h/backs this country has produced...However a complete waste of money for FC and I now understand why his beloved Saints would not give him a 2 yr deal.

Should Hull have signed him in the first place? I think it was right to sign a player of his stature. He could (and may well of) passed on his knowledge to some of the academy players. Unfortunately Nicklas got injured so we won't see the effect of that mentoring yet.

Its easy to deride the fact that he has not featured enough, but I don;t recall there being too many saying he shouldn't have been signed when it was announced, even those who are now saying he was a waste of money.

If he had been forced out through muscle strains and pulls you would have a point. Broken hands, dislocated elbows and Shoulders are not fatigue injuries.

Perhaps those having a sly dig should applaude him for putting his body on the line for a club which will not have been too close to his heart.

He was the best British scrum half of the 2000s by a country mile.

no sly dig here, never thought we should sign him, and I think he's been a waste of time and money, as for "putting his body on the line", there are plenty of people being a lot braver for a hell of a lot less money in other walks of life.

A legend of the game and whilst on the pitch he still showed his class for Hull,just a shame it wasnt very often....you cant knock the club for bringing in a player of Longs stature, just the fact that it should have been a 1 year deal with an option.(granted,that offer would have kept him at saints probably)
