Anyone heard anything about Francis Meli supposedly coming to Hull FC?

I think he is battering for a better deal personally, but would be a very good signing if we managed to get him.

It could well be a similar situation to that of Sean Long. A 2 year deal could well entice him away from Saints and their offer of one year

Played very well at centre last week apparently.Could be an option to play him there if we signed him.

Why though, he is a winger, if it's a centre we want buy a centre, instead of continously playing players out of their preferred positions then hammering them when they don't perfom as well as we expect

I know players get dispensation while there at a club but I thought they lost this when they left.

My thoughts exactly.

As is their want, the RFL changed this to allow players who qualified, i.e. playing in super League or registered with a club prior to 1st february 2008, to keep their newly designated status, once their contract was up for renewal, until they retire, in other words they count as federation trained, wheresoever they play (in SL) and this counts until they hang up their boots. The idea being that in the future these players will all eveuntually retire and that the youngsters will then start to flourish (hopefully), as they do not have to compete with established overseas players.

Based on this rule we could have brought Berrigan off quota this year if he'd signed a three yr deal back in the day, but as his contract was 3 yrs plus additional yr based on certain critieria, he wouldn't qualify until next season, and as our other 'quota' players did not register before February 2008, they will always be counted as non-federation trained, unless they qualify for residency, I think???

I think this is why Rovers and Wigan are able to bring in more 'quota' players, as many of their current 'quota' players were registered before the deadline, I may be wrong but I think rovers could actually bring in at least 3 aussies for 2011.
