Seems to be a number of fans who believe agar is a good coach and it's just the averageness of the squad which is resulting in the current poor performances.

If he were put in charge of saints do you think they would still play the same brand of rugby? Would he have the personality to effectively manage a team full of star players? Could he inspire them to new heights?

I'm willing to give agar the benefit of the doubt when it comes to tactics, as maybe he doesn't have the players to implement his style of play. But the one thing I think agar lacks is character and the ability to really motivate and get his troops up for battle. Which when you have a squad of average players is very important.
I think he would do alright at saints as they pretty much play on instinct, but in the big games I think he would struggle to get them focused.
Hence why I think agar is a great coach but just lacking in personality to be a manager of a team.

I'm sure Agar is a nice bloke (that's not the swear filter, btw) but he lacks the gravitas our club needs.

Why isnt he getting interchanges right ?, Why does he allow us to have one single runner all the time and never move up and attack as a team ?,
Why cant he seem to be able to motivate the team, Why does he allow the team to continuously play one directional rugby with five drives and a kick when it simply isnt working ?

i meant coach as in on the training park. You're other points I mentioned in my original post.

Aww come on this argument that he hasn't got the players at his disposal to carry out Agar's masterplan is a woeful argument....what is this Agar's style of play? is it never seen before by any players hence no one can carry it off until we have "the right type of players"?!

It's time we all faced facts - Agar isn't up to it, he is out of his depth.....regardless of who we have playing for us!

Remember a quote from agar we he took over tempoary charge against Leeds when Kear went and he said we are just going to go back to basics

Have you ever seen the team train?? I seriously doubt that agar trains his players all week to be expansive, then on the night of the game says "forget all that lads just go one up". The players are getting bullied on the pitch and it shows. Which is a lot down to mental preparation, which i've already said agar lacks.

Training conditions and playing conditions are totally opposite....and no i haven't seen them train. It's what happens on match day that counts and i'm afraid Agar isn't up to it.

Why rrain a player in a postion all week say 7 , then on a game day not play him there bizzare

The only thing to add is that the players have to take some responsibility for performing below the level they as individuals are capable of. Look at Calderwood. Gash under international and "most-successful-coach-in the-SL-era", a revelation under Agar. Don't know whether Agar has anything to do with it, but it looks more to me like Calderwood has taken it upon himself to give 100% every game and delivers every week. Can't deny that if everyone did the same we'd have won more games than we have done this year, regardless of the coach.

That's a valid point Mrs B. Even though I don't think Agar is up to it, It's not all down to him. The players have to cop some of it!!!

In my opinion any S.L. coach could get results at Saints, they play a fast and attractive brand of rugby. The difficulty for lesser coaches would be man management skills and day to day problems which appear at all clubs through out a season.
