We was missing good players last night and because of under investment in our youth in the past so we don't have endless strength in depth.

Didnt take long for usual suspects to be filling there socks over last night.poor display and overall a poor season apart from very good cup run.but we need to keep gentle for next season imo. We cant just keep changing the coach . One more year for me to see how he does.if we still at the same place then yes maybe time to move on.

We play a crap brand. We've played a crap brand all yr. Looking at our home games our pass must represent amongst the worst value in the league. Widnes n cas have had better entertainment.
We have the embarrassment of having played in about the worst cup final ever n the players dropping the ball missing tackles etc is one thing on an off day. When you do it weeks nearly stretching to months on end then the coach needs to be looked at!!

Sacking Gentle would be a mistake. Give him next season at least. Now that McRae has gone you may see a difference. Too many cooks and all that. Once the players cross the whitewash it is down to them. If the game plan is not working the experienced players need to realise that and change it. (Cup final was the perfect example, Holdsworth/Miller continued to kick high and Wigan kicked along the floor using the wet conditions. Holdsworth should have seen that and changed). A lot will now depend on who Gentle signs as McRae is out of the picture.

McRae has had no input in to the first team training and their tactics etc and while he has handled the contract negotiations and signings...the club have made it very clear that Gentle has had the final say in who is signed and retained. The way things have been working is that Gentle indicates he needs say a 2nd rower, McRae finds who is available and at what salary then Gentle picks which one he wants.

i.e. I doubt McRae leaving is going to make any difference to how we are performing.

Recruitment and coaching are 2 different issues, and neither have been good enough IMO. I can accept that Gentle may not have got the players he has wanted, but that's probably the same for most coaches. But the issue for me is that we have not improved during his reign. His aim was to close the gap between our best and worse performances. That hasn't happened,

Exactly, I ended last season feeling optimistic, we had a wobble mid-season but recovered and hammered Hudds in the playoffs before putting up a good show at Wire, you felt that the building blocks for a good side were being laid.

fast forward a year and we've actually gone backwards, and the 'fill-in' players like Aspinwall & McGoldrick actually made a better team than the dross we've brought in this year.

If we sack Gentle we can write off next season. We will be back where we were 2 years ago. It will be another season of transition. The new coach will say these are not his players and the players will need to learn new structures and systems.
Who would we replace Gentle with? I'll tell you now I would rather have Gentle than McNamara, Radford, Last, Long, Potter, Brian Smith, Cooke and pretty much anyone else mentioned on this board lately. If Daniel Anderson was ringing Adam Pearson about the job that would be another matter but he isn't and won't be available.

Couldn't agree more. Some "experts" actually want Radford as our head coach.

Radford is our coach. He was responsible for the defence which, up until the last 2 weeks, was one of the best in the comp.

We have massively underperformed in games against Widnes, Rovers (twice!), Salford, Wakefield and London. All below us.
