| Lazy appointment when our priorities are improving attack and defence. Neither were great the last time he was here

| I'm happy with that. Bags of experience, knows the club, understands the fans. It's not like we're going to sign up a bunch of NRL assistant coaches. The direction from Cartwright will dictate how things are done. It's a similar scenario to Grix, Cummings etc. At least there's some commitment to building a team around the head coach.

| In an ideal world he replaced Grix and bring in another coach, but think are stuck with him.

That's the only scenario where last coming back makes sense

| Pity he not replacing Grix…bit left field but knows the club and coming back to a totally different environment…on a side note, soon legged it from Catalan after 1 season and he was with Abdul for a season

I presume you are highlighting those as negatives? If yes, I agree

| Not too sure about this. I guess he knows the club inside out and he's clearly rated by the likes of Wane and McNamara.
Maybe the time away from the club has done him good.

| For me it's a good signing in two ways. Firstly he has been with McNamara and done some stuff with England too and he is an experienced assistant if not an experienced coach. Then Looking at it logically from his point of view the abuse he got (often on here) when he was here (yet he gave us a good season when standing in as Coach) would put most off ever returning (just ask Sneyd about that one) particularly if he was a native of West Hull.
But, he loves the club and I know that because he's told me several times both when he was with us and since and he gets the dynamic of what is going wrong and the hurt it is bringing. I've had the same conversation with Steve McNamara when he returns to Beverley and he has strong feelings for us too. Lasty's father in law is the club chaplain so he'll know all about the power of prayer and he'll need plenty of that ,
However, lets face it unless he is totally committed to the cause why the hell would he come back to this basket case of a set up, when he can stay with Steve and live the high life in the sun on a good screw. Cartwright will have vetted him very closely (he's known out there as he's had assistant offers from Australia in the past anyway, but not wanted to go ) and lastly he's a really good bloke and black and white through and through.
So all in all its a good appointment for me, lets face it his affiliation to the club and friendship with countless fans means that if the wheel continues to fall off next season he'll hurt a lot more than Grix (who I think needs replacing) obviously does. I concur with the general view however that I think poor old Grixy is now tarnished by what's gone on, on his watch and should go, to be replaced for me with a hungry Aussie assistant. . As for Andy I'm comfortable with that but obviously it seems many don't agree with me.

| I agree with that comment totally seen it explode in our faces so many times (although Peter Stirling might not agree with you ) but I think here is a bloke who has left us and improved a lot and indeed shared the dug out for the England team as an assistant and I think that providing its not Grix he is with it will work admirably. The way that Myler operates I don't rule on Grixy not being paid off next. Who in their right mind in Lasts position after the cr*p he got last time from the fans would come back unless he was totally dedicated to the task and had a point to prove?

| I too think Grix is on borrowed time, in fairness taking over this basket case mid season was challenging to say the least but think we need a clean broom now he's tarnished with this disaster of a season

He's so uninspiring and lacking in any passion though. No wonder we're looking like a shambles with him in charge

| McBanana is getting the bullet and is heading to Huddersfield if he can pass a competency test. Last has been told he can leave with him. Both lost the dressing room and Tomkins is behind the demise.

| Personally think the talk of Grix being at the club next year is all just a load of crap to keep him happy and focused while he's in still in charge until the end of the season. Once the season concludes I'm fully expecting him to be told he's no longer in the clubs plans moving forward and a settlement to be agreed.

| At least he gets the club and what it means. Not many have down the years.
When he was a player he said if he didn't play, he'd be watching on the terraces.
Plus who was the one who advised Radford not to re-sign Fonua? And not to hand out four year deals?
Think Grix will end up leaving. I know he's been left a real mess, but it's never looked like he wanted to be here. Shame we can't get Briers as well, given his Hull connection, but he'll no doubt end up at Saints where he'll be head coach in waiting.

| At least if they interview Lasty after a defeat,he won’t be stood there with a smug grin on his face and calling out younger players on Hull on line.

| I’m not going to get into a debate about how good he is or isn’t on the training field as very few fans will really know the ins and outs of it and what if any influence the assistant coach has. Personally I don’t think it’s all that important some will disagree massively, I’d never make a big deal of it either way. As long as you have good players and a good culture in general I’m sure Lasty fits into a good culture. I do like the idea of having good ‘clubmen’ around the place. Right or wrongly a few ex players recently have stuck the boot into our support, be nice to have one of our own in a decent position at the club.

| Last may be a good appointment who knows but since he went to Catalan they have nosedived
If the coach is being removed then im all for the assistant to go too.
Dont get this promotion of the assistant coach in rugby or football if the manager or coach gets the sack

They usually appoint the assistant on an interim basis and see how he does but continue looking for someone else.
If he starts well like Solskjaer did he gets the job. Brilliant start but ultimately was found out.

| I'm happy to see him back and I reckon it's cos Grix is a gonner. He was a decent assistant before but now has gone off and worked under a couple of other coaches which can only benefit himself and us

I bet Wigan are pleased they didn't listen to you when they appointed Peet.
