I've never been a fan of appeals in modern day sport. If they've viewed the video, apply the correct Grading and taken into account the players previous, what else is there left to consider?

If new footage/evidence has come to light then that is a different matter, but the system should get the appropriate suspension right in the first place. If not it's just a waste of everyone's time and money.

Despite what is said on this forum, compared with other sports I still think that Rugby League has one of the better disciplinary processes. Football has improved, but used to suffer from clubs appealing to delay the suspension - I'm sure Arsenal once played the system to ensure that Henry got a suspension several months after the offence. Meanwhile Rugby Union thinks nothing of giving a player a five week ban at the start if his summer holidays, meaning they miss no games.

When Whiting was spear tackled last season in a home game (can't recall who the opposition were) the RLF took no action as they couldn't decide which of the three opponents caused the danger. Seems there's doubt in this case too. Appeal should be successful, but this is the idiots at the RFL so who knows?
