Having watched Hull choke so often this season and also having listened to Radford's interview I picked up on a couple of things he said which has lead me to think sports psychology is something not understood or practised at our club. Psychological skills are just as important as pyshical skills.

Lee said he would "hope" the team can take what has been practised and be transfered across the whitewash. Unfortunately the days of coaching or performing through "hope" are no longer appropriate or effective.

Come on Hull sort it out, AP promised us this area would be addressed when it clearly hasn't.

Dead right! Leeds were addressing this area years ago and they are the smartest thinking team in the league. Our players have the physical attributes but are so dumb. Mental toughness enables players to think clearly under pressure. A good sports psychologist could add 10% to the performance of the team.

I believe this is the key to our consistancy problem, the way we "choke" is down to the Moments of panic, anxiety and emotions that interfere with the physical performance. Psychological techniques can teach the players how to control these factors.

I agree that we should be exploring every avenue including this one. But at most I see it as a 10%er which would get you past the winning post in a tight game (undoubtedly would have helped this year). We're still 20-30% short in the key skills/players area as well though IMO.

Can't see how you can put a percentage of 10% when the difference between our best and worst performances (if transferred to a percentage) is way higher than 10%. If a prepared mindset can give you a level of consistancy close to your best weekly then surely thats what we are looking for. Not a 10% increase in random performances?

We have Keith Earle from University of Hull working for us I think, or at least he was.

Sometimes I think some of our players are too dumb to understand anything a sports psychologist might tell them.

Indeed and this shows the true value of these "experts". Last month Dr Steve Peters was dropping gold nuggets even when he went to the loo and he didn't seem too shy in claiming the credit for his clients success. Now we have seen a huge choke from Liverpool and the most gifted snooker player many of us have seen being ground down, making bad errors and getting beaten.

I certainly do agree with the OP that Hull need a culture change and need to develop ruthless winning habits. However the best way to achieve this is by getting staff of the right character in the first place and if necessary removing bad influences because one bad apple has more impact than 10 good sorts. That goes to players and coaches. Without the right personnel you are doomed from the off because as the old expression goes you can't polish a turd.

Think about it, the world's best sprint coach isn't going to turn Liam Colbon for example into RL's fastest man. So how on earth is some psycho babble guru going turn Hull into a team that wins everything just by thinking right?

I have never said its great, or we are close to winning everything, we need to learn how to play to a plan for the full 80 mins & try & put teams to bed once we have a decent lead, mr negative.

tell you what, you pay my travel from Worcester and for the working hours I'd lose to even try and get across the M5,M42,M1 in time for a Friday night and I'll happily pay myself in, Kosh can have a lift if he wants to join me.

How much will it cost?

Worcester to Hull, 170 miles (3 hours), at 50p a mile that's £170 return journey, before even taking into account time off work, so in the region of £400 minimum. Maybe now [isome[/i people will understand why I don't go to many games, it's actually cheaper to go to Catalans away! (well, maybe not cheaper, but it's better value for money)

I see your point, I would like games on a Sunday for the purpose of our players been able to go on the lash once the Friday games over, as some go straight out, or even Saturday nights.

and there we highlight another issue, I don't think professional athelete's should be "on the lash" during the season, do you think Mo Farrah or Usain Bolt have a skinfull many times a year, look at Andy Murray, you don't get that miserable without being off the beer for too long!

I just don't understand them, to be good at any professional sport, then to go & abuse there body's, Paul Cooke would have been a miles better player if we hadn't have dragged him in crown on a Thursday night after training! Mind you he didn't take much persuading!
