Spurn Point could well become an island tonight, it suffered a bad breach in September and all traffic has been denied access and a shuttle by Land Rover is in operation for VTS/Pilots. It could have significant impact on the Humber operations if the VTS tower has power and communications black outs.

They'll be nice and warm in the Rose and Crown if they've got that open fire roaring.

If Hull are training on Chants today Zephyrus is sending the winds down the Avenues as if Hyacinth himself is standing on Prinny Ave in an attempt to cause death by flying rugby ball instead of discus. It's like each of the 4 riders of the Apolcalypse has chosen an Avenue to hurtle down.

Don't worry about vts they've got back up generators spare a thought for the pilots and pilot boat crews who have to go out in this bad weather. I'm at work on the pilot boats tonight, not looking forward to it at all. The boat crews will be relieving through Grimsby and probably working out of there all night as the jetty at spurn will be unsafe due to the westerly winds.

Humberside Police have just issued a severe weather warning for North East Lincs (Grimsby in old money). Good luck, the wind is switching to northerlies, running parallel with the coast. Everything seems to be mirroring the conditions of 60 years ago
