3rd lowest number of tries scored in SL before last night (according to superleague.co.uk), miles behind the top 3 teams and costing us points. Last night the game should have been sewn up by half time with the amount of possession we had in their 20, similarly in the magic weekend game it should have been out of sight before ganson's blunder.

At times we've shown some good moves in the opposition 20 with dummy runners and players creating options for the ball carrier, but these have been too few and far between and generally we look clueless when near the opposition line which is really where we've been since 2007. I'm bored of watching us trundle props at the defensive line expecting something to happen

I don't care if we win ever game one nil, it's not a league table of metres, carries, tackles, tries or 40/20's, it's a league table of win,draw and lose, and we're doing far too much losing.

no, league position is THE indicator of how good you are, every other stat is just nonsense unless you're professionally involved in the game, nobody get's the "Harry Gration most metres of the season" award.

We scored 6 n with what should of been a reasonable return on goal kicks we'd have scored about 32/34 points whilst playing poor against a team in some decent form. We need to buck up but we're not in a crisis! Yet.

Yeah but that's not gonna happen so, as I said, you need to score more tries. Every season, the teams who score the most are at the top of the table

Of course we need to score more but it is only part of the story. Points difference is a better indicator of the level of performance and this is also helped by good defence preventing points against. Points difference isn't infallible of course and the sample size of the number of games in a season is too small to prevent a degree of uncertainty, but it does give some correlation to league tale points and whether a teams position is expected, lucky or unlucky. On that measure Hull are in about the right spot at the moment and not top 4 material yet. Still the season so far has been hampered by plenty of unstability at the half back positions so hopefully a good run there will help improve the attacking game.

You're talking rubbish Jake, winning games is what matters, everything else is just peripheral detail.

Go down your usual arguing a lost point if you want but the fact is the best teams score more tries than the worst teams. It's making and taking chances that turns narrow losses into wins and turns close games into comfortable wins. Scoring tries is an indicator of how good you are and we don't score enough end of. We won't win enough games unless we start scoring more tries

Fact is you won't win games if you don't score enough tries as you can't nil every team every week. If your scant knowledge of the game can't get your head around that then you're better off staying away from even more games in future
