How you work that out??????....Whiting didnt play V Rovers so needs another game.Id have Whiting in instead of Galea v Leeds.

I worked it out by Gentle saying he wouldn't play any of his 'Leeds' team in this friendly and also Smailes is saying the same thing on Twitter.

Didnt see that bit....Mistake IMO as whiting should be in the 17 each week and Galea only when injuries.

I'd agree with that, Smailes has tweeted that he has the best chance out of the team to force his way in. So maybe there's still a chance.

Looks like Crookes and Arundel may be getting the nod over Lineham and Crooks as well then. Agree with the latter, not so much the former.

I do still think there may be one or two of those in with a shout for the Leeds game though, particularly in the pack. Mainly on the basis that unless 2 of Tickle, Watts and Kent are fit, we don't have another 17 players left (and in particular only 2 recognised props), so Gentle probably didn't have the luxury of leaving his entire 17 out of proceedings this weekend. Even if they would be fit, it would be a bit of a risk to throw them straight in.

Personally I reckon Whiting, Green, Johnson and Bowden may be playing for 2 spots, with Green & Johnson maybe in front at the moment.

Precisely. Outside of those 20 named we only have another 18 players, with 3 of them injured and not having played a minute between them yet.

I'll be amazed if there aren't a couple from that 20 in the squad next Friday.

Just had a quick look at squad and there's only 15 players not at York and that includes Tickle so 2 possibly 3 spots available.

I just can't see Galea being a reserve player this year. As much as I am a whiting fan I feel Gentle prefers Ellis, Galea and Tickle ahead of him.

I think Johnson could be in with a shout, too. The front row looks lighter than the back.

Reckon Whiting & Horne will be named in the 19 but drop out, or Gentle may choose to take a couple of youngsters. He's spoke well of Dean Hadley, maybe he'll get a look in for the 19.

I still don't think Pitts is quite big enough to play as an outright prop. I don't mind him as the 3rd at loose man, but if Westerman is to play there I just think we'd lack size/strength with Pitts as one of 2 props.

Wish I could get to the game, as there are 2 former pupils in the squad, drew ward and Jordan Abdul, Abdul has bags of talent and we did well to poach him from rovers, drew has worked so hard to make it as a professional.

Also heard that gentle is very impressed with Turgut and expects big things of him.

Bit cheesed off that Crookes is looking likely V Leeds...dont know why we signed him and he has sounded very bloody dodgey so far and,tbh,he wasnt that much cop at Bradford.

Out of the two I am more optimistic that Lineham will become a top winger so I would like to see him in the side over Crookes myself. However it could prove to be a shrewd move leaving him out, he's had a sniff of SL and missing out the squad will only make him hungrier and put more pressure on Crookes to perform. I like the fact in less then two seasons Gentle is already producing a squad with competition, something we have not had for a long while.

Agreed. I don't think Gentle has bought Galea to sit on the bench. He's a starter for me. Ellis, Galea and Westerman I think will be the back-row three. Tickle front-rowing?

Why are people s including tickle? He said on Sunday to my pal after the game that he's 4 weeks off. So probably be round 3at best.

Same for me but think Houghton will start. Johnson will play. If Tickle not fit Whiting to come in.

Everybody at the club is impressed with him and deservedly so is everything you want in a back rower.

Zach Brahman has everything to go and play at Super League level him and Wilson will go very well in the front row for the 19's this season.
