Hull FC squad: Briscoe, Bowden, Crooks, Ellis, Green, Houghton, Kent, Lynch, Lyne, Manu, Martin, McKinnon, Moa, Nicklas, Pitts, Seymour, Sharp, Tickle, Turner, Whiting
Hull FC head coach Peter Gentle has been boosted by the return of centre Tony Martin and prop Sam Moa to his squad for Sunday’s fourth round Challenge Cup tie against Huddersfield Giants.
Martin missed both games over the Easter period with a neck injury while Moa was given permission to return to Australia on compassionate grounds, but the experienced duo look set to feature in Sunday’s knock-out tie against the Super League table-toppers at the KC Stadium.
They are joined by youngsters Chris Green, Reece Lyne and Ben Crooks as part of five changes to Gentle’s 19-man squad in the face of a mounting injury list for the Black and Whites.
Kirk Yeaman, Richard Horne, Martin Aspinwall and young prop Josh Bowden are the latest players to be ruled out of action, while Lee Radford will go back to his assistant coach role following the return of Moa and Green to the squad.

Crooks as 18th man. I guess the reason that Crooks and Lyne are in the squad is that Sharp could be a doubt. If Sharp can't play then I would put Crooks on the wing. Hopefully being outside of Martin would have a good influence on him. I wouldn't play Lyne because I'm not really that impressed by him.
Losing Bowden is another big loss as he's been good so far. This injury situation just gets worse and worse.

Trying to be helpful, I think Bowden is in the list in error - there are 20 names in total, and the article says he isn't in contention. Confused me for a moment.
As fcimp, it'll be a big challenge, especially for some of the relatively inexperienced players.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Crooks on the bench instead of Nicklas, with him coming on for 20 minutes in place of Whiting to give him a rest, moving Turner to loose man for a short spell.

They need the fans behind them like never before, went to Huds and i thought the fans were great, we need more of it.
Hard to believe we can be so unlucky especialy with a tough draw in the cup. theres six in the squad that were in the under 20s last season not including Bowdon.

| wade is very doubtfull which is why Lyne is in,and bowden been ill all week. sharp shouldn't be a doubt. training as normal yesterday after been on crutches day after hudd game! its the cup and anything can happen but looking well up against it! . i'll be there though! |

One good thing to come from all of these injury problems is that we have blooded more youngsters in the last 4 weeks than agar did in 4 years.
We're not going to win anything this season anyway so let's just give the kids some more experience and see how far we can get in the league and play offs

That's a a really good point, I was never carried away by being top tbh. I have said all along I would be happy with top 6 and I would also rather have these injuries now than later in the season. The disappointing thing is it comes when we are due to meet some top sides so we might not be able to get a true idea of where we are. |

1 to 13 I'd say we can still give them a good game, just when it comes to the bench I think they'll have far too much for us. I'd be happy with a good performance and no more injuries in all honesty.

Spot on. Hopefully we can start getting some players back in a few weeks and continue our progress. If we have something approaching our first choice squad come the playoffs then we'll be able to see just how much we've improved from the last couple of seasons. |
