Just thought I'd carry on the conversation on the locked "Agar In" thread and Will Sharp







What do you think?

Personally I think Lynne is better than Sharp due to the fact they both suffer from similar confidence issues but Lyne is younger and has more chance to develop into a quality Wing.

I don't think Sharp has confidence issues, he is just another in a long line of right sided wingers who look bad due to poor coaching.

Should we be coaching grown men how to catch and tackle?

Whiting doesn't find himself looking as stupid as Sharp does mainly because he can catch, tackle, read the game and position himself correctly.

They are both young and both have a chance. Sharp definatley a better player, with more SL experience and a good finisher. Would be disappointed if we let him go, but I don't think we will.

Sharp was also a left winger for quins.

Alright Willa, have to say I think Washys done well when he's come on lately, if we are going to step up a level then he may end up being left behind, but he's played his part in all the recent big wins. I'm not sure either that his stints in the halves over the last 2/3 season have done him any good, seems to me his smaller height does not interchange well between forward and half back like it does with taller utility pivots like Westerman and Cookie types.

Bit harsh to classify Washy as deadwood, Friday will be a good test against top opposition to see if your right.

Sharp isn't so bad under the high ball or tackling, it's just his reading of the game that isn't great, especially when in a 2 on 1 situation, making his decision too early IMO. Also he doesn't seem to do too much talking or calling men out wide which is another weakness that can be worked out of him.

What do you guys think of Jack Briscoe? Been full-time for a couple of years now without getting a first team call up (i think). Could he stake a claim for the wing spot next year?

Hopefully he'll get his fair share of games next season, always been impressed with him at U20s level, think he'll be a better player than Lyne.

I noticed him and Briscoe switched wings at Cas. Could there be something in that, or is it just a coincidence?

IMO It does make a difference to a player being able to play on their more comfortable side.

The kid's got real pace; I saw him 2nd half at Cas at the weekend and he can certainly motor, I'd like to see him against seasoned players.

Not convinced by Lynn just yet, maybe a year on loan somewhere would help. Sharp deserves a nother shot I feel, still think he could come good.

Aren't playing first grade they should bs playing for York/Donny on dual reg.

Agreed, lawerence is coming along nicely getting fitter and better each game, he plays a lot like Manu just not as good (yet) he's got great potential.

No chance will Briscoe be better than Lyne in fact I will go as far as saying Jack Briscoe will never play in SL.

Whoever takes over from Whiting has got their work cut out, he's been very solid. Feel for Richard, does a good job in every position he's asked to play and yet can't seem to cement one for himself.

Mostly agreed except Turner has justified his selection recently and much more.

Also Ellis after outscoring every other player in the country playing at the top of the championship level would be weeed off to get another super league chance then get loaned out to a lower championship/championship one club

Ship Lyne out to a championship side still a very young player with plenty of development in him.
Sharp simply ship him out.

I never said loan any of the players out, if we sign a better centre than Turner would you wanting him treading water in the u20's or at least having physical games in the lower leagues?

If Ellis is playing the he won't be avaiable for his dual reg side.

Turner has improved week after week for me, although I do think he is a "bench" player at best.

We need to give Sharp another chance with a new centre. If he fails again, fair enough.

Agree with Newsom. Still need a top class centre, presuming we won't see Gleeson again.

Maybe Lynn might get a decent run in the first team next season with a quaility coach who is prepared to give youth a chance?.All the other top teams seem to give their up and comming younger players a chance.

We don't need to give Lynn a 'decent run in the first team', we have Will Sharp who at the moment is a far superior player being poorly coached.
