Some people suggest that the key to Agar gaining a new contract/not been sacked is how we perform in our opening first 8 games.

We've got;
Hull KR (MM), Leeds (H), Hudds (A), Crusaders (H), Wigan (A), Wakefield (H), Harlequins (A) and Castleford (H).

Some people have suggested he needs to be in the top 4 by the end of them games which based on last year would require around 12 competition points.

So, what do you feel is the minimum return from the first 8 games? IMO, For the pressure to not be mounting I'd suggest we'd need to win all of the must wins (Crusaders, Wakefield, Harlequins and Caslteford), one of the 'could wins' (Hull KR/Hudds) and one of the 'shouldn't wins' (Leeds/Wigan) ased on last seasons results.

We really need to show intent and not get spanked by Wigan if Agar is to remain in his job and be trusted with a HUGE year of recruitment next year. I'm not 100% sure but I think I'd be right in suggesting this is his team (i.e. All the players here now, he has given a contract to) and it's time to step up after the board have backed him (Westerman, Turner, Tansey, Sammut?).

He wont get sacked after 8, a contract extension who knows maybe if we lose the last 2 he will get one.

I think we should be looking for 12 points but think 8 points is more realistic in terms of our strength.

Based on the current squad with no additional signings I think we will scrape three home wins and that's it.

I also think agar will keep his job.

I'm usually blindly optimistic at this time of year but not this season.

I think he will see out the season regardless of results.
I don't think he will get a contract extention during the season, unless the Aussies are sniffing around him for a national coach

thats a pretty good analysis but I would put harlequins in a similar category to the hudds game as in:- hard to lose against quins but you tend to struggle against them!

I could see you win at Hudds which has been a happy hunting ground for you and then give the 2 points away with a shoddy performance in London

So would I because I really don't see us getting any more than that.

IF we start like last season we'll win 6, if we finish... we'll win 3. In other words I have no idea and no real expectations.

Hopefully we've learnt to peak at the end of the season, not the start like the last two.

At the moment with our current squad I think we will lose the first 3 games, also Wigan away, I expect us to win 4 games that would be an average start, 5 would be a decent start, 6 or above would be excellent.

Would expect 4 wins, hoping for 5 though.

I we beat Dobbins, Cru, Wakey, Quins and Cas, and put in good performances against the other three, I would be more than happy. Would be great to get a win at MM and take us to the Leeds game with a bit of confidence.

I agree, Agar will be judged more around the halfway point of the season I feel and 4/5 wins would seem about right.

6 out of 8 would be the return to aim for. Anything else would be a bonus. The first 8 games wont matter though if we win 0 from the next 8.
