Had this question from two people over the last 12-24 hours, nobody seems to know anything about it IF it's true, any RLFans members hard anything?

I got told this about 18months ago due to major redevelopments in the area around the charelston, but not heard anything since although I havent been in for a long time due to games now being on a friday night.

If it were to be demolished how would you tell the difference???

It was due to be demolished yes but everything in that area has been put on hold due to lack of funding.

Lets face it that whole area needs bulldozing!

So there could be some more undeveloped brown field site rotting?

Charelston is about the most "fir for purpose" place I have ever been, it used to be a great day on Sunday in Charlie.

I go before all Hull matches and there is a great atmosphere in there.

Charleston has been sold under compulsory purchase to Hull city council....it is closing up at the end of january ....it is scheduled to be demolished...it has played its part in the hull fc experience for many people over the years....not many places around of that ilk anymore...some people will be gald,others will be sad....personally i have had some fantastic times in the place and will miss it....lots..!!!

I've not heard anything new, but I thought that the regeneration of that area had been put on the backburner for a few years due to funding issues.

I would be gutted if this was true and feel that FC games wouldn't feel the same without a few pre-match pints in Charleston.

If true, I hope Ray and Avril have got a great deal from the Council and they enjoy whatever the future may hold.

Does Kingy still frequent the stablishment?.....poss link to its downfall if hes stopped going in lol

Would be a massive shame if it was to happen, always great to get in there before and after games, great atmosphere.

I had my Wedding night "do" in Charlston and it was a crackin' night, peole still talk about it 24 years later.
It will be a sad time when/if it goes

had my engagement and my 40th in there both great nights, also been to plenty of other dos there.great couple ray and avril.

Great times....met some great mates...had some great laughs...never be another one....legendary days...will shed a few tears when its locked up for the last time..!!!

Had our engagement party in there 30 years ago; also had many a fantastic night in there over the years.

Will always be rememebered for those meetings upstairs when Rovers Chairman and Mr lloyd tried to finish our club. They were inspiring nights, great old place great heritage and I agree Martin that Sundays before Boulevard games in the Charlie were magic!!

Held some great charity and testimonial events in there including the legendary Charlie Chuck............Danny Tickle stripping off and singing Old Faithful after kingys testimonial night...........Razor and Avril always been a huge help and very kind

I *think* I know who you are having read a few posts.

If Ray and Avril are up for it then can I suggest we organise a closing bash, I know many people who will also shed a tear when it closes for the last time, January is a fairly flat month normally anyway so a "farewell to Charleston" might just lift the mood and be a good start to pre-season.

I am sure many from this board will attend if we can sort something.

am sure that peoples good wishes/good memories will reach back to ray and avril....i know that will make them both real proud...!!!!
