| I think a few players may have a trip to the disciplinary committee this week. It would be a real shame if we lost some key players for the Wigan game
The committee will definately looking at the fight and Lauaki's incident on video and I could see all the Tongan mafia having cases to answer.
Manu was named by one touch judge as having run 40 yards to get involved in the fight
Sam Moa was beating the life out of Liam Watts
Lauaki's two left hooks to Fox surely will not go unpunished
Tansey also raced a long way to get involved with the fight
I dont know how the disciplinary committee reacts to players who dont start an incident but I think it will be a nervous Monday/Tuesday for us

| i thought it was tansey that ran 40 meters but who knows. Hopefully hame wont have a case to answer after throwing a punch at fox, fox came running in and hame reacted. The other fight well i guess alot was handbags, i know a few punches were throw but really it wasnt too much. Its a derby and high emotions. Id like to see common sense from the outcome and a few warning letters dished out

| Also, Tickle decking 2 of them. Watts swinging at Moa while he was involved in another fight.
Seriously, thought Bentham finished it. Binned the 2 instigators and told the captains to sort it out, fine by me!
As an aside, can someone teach Calders how to punch? Can't fault the guys willingness to get stuck in but that was some poor punch technique!

| It's great though that we are far harder than those lightweight faggots. If we do get them in the playoff's, we should bring back the biff (fairly ish) and smash them!

| League takes a very dim view of "running in" when a fight develops, so there is certainly a risk of players being invited over for a hearing.
Tansey and Manu would be the players at risk along with Netherton from Rovers who was the person who escalated the whole thing.
Can't see Lauaki having a problem, it's not usually a few punches they mind, it's charging in and escalating a small fight into a mass brawl.

What is the difference with joining in and running in

| I'll be surprised if anyone actually picks up a ban, although a few may get a warning to watch their step over the next couple of weeks. As other people have already said, a lot of it was just handbags at ten paces with a lot of shouting and flailing arms.
Also, does anyone else think the Rugby League secretly quite like all of this. It is a very hard physically demanding sport and a bit of biff has always gone hand in hand with big games. Tv companies always seem to derive a certain vicarious thrill about the odd punch up. It ties in with the hype about "big game, passions running high, its war out there, etc".
Calders getting binned for essentially taking two punches reminded me of another derby brawl from way back when (possibly 82/83). An all in 26 man brawl in a night time derby at the Boulevard. Seem to remember Knocker landing an absolute pearler on someone (may have been Phil Hogan, or maybe not). The ref (John Holdsworth possibly) didn't have a clue who'd started it, what had started it and who had thrown what at whom. So he just simply picked out the first two players he looked at (Gary Kemble & John Lydiat) and promptly sent them off. I can see the two players now, walking down best stand side towards the tunnel with a bemused look on their faces. Lydiat turning to Kemble and saying "how the hell are we the two going off". I think they were the only two players who didn't throw a punch . The ref could have picked out almost anyone (Knocker, Skerett, Casey, headbanger Burton) all of whom had previous, but instead he picked out the two fullbacks.
Thursday night was the first derby since rovers promotion that had that same feeling as derbies from the 70's/80's. Maybe its because for the first time both sides are at the upper end of the table, maybe because these two groups of players have been here for some time now and seem to understand that its more than "just another game" and maybe there was still some unresolved business from Good Friday to be sorted. Either way the cordiale entante that appeared to exist in 2007/08 has rapidly disappeared. Bring back the biff (as Phil Clarke would say) and bring back proper derbies because lets face it we all loved it on Thursday.
Finally (for the older ones out there), was anyone on here at Craven Park for the Good Friday derby of 1984 and Len Casey getting sent off for punching Fred Ah Khoi before promptly pushing over a linesman on his way to the dressing room. Quite possibly the single funniest moment in all my years of watching Fc.

I was there. Don't think casey landed one TBH but Fred certainly did
Linesman just fell over as casey pushed him but it still cost him the GB captaincy and a place on the tour last year.
Have to admit I did used to like the old craven park ground. Fully enclosed, fans mingling and a great atmosphere on derby day

It was a glancing push, but the linesman certainly milked it, I can still see him trying to wave his flag and stumbling at the same time.

Its the ones who come steaming in and ignite a volatile situation who will get the brunt of the punishment.
Doubt Moa will have any case to answer. EVERY player was involved. That Big Sam can actuallt land a punch shouldn't be the issue.
Lauaki COULD get done for a dangerous tackle. That he actually put Briscoe down safely might go in his favour. That he smacked Fox, the officials at the time said it was Fox who was the agressor.

I certainly recall that. I entered it for one of the greatest derby moments. Easy victory against them but tainted by them having our title that year. Without doubt one of the great derby moments for Hull fans, Shame Casey got his own back when he shafted us as a coach.
