Michael Mellor, who is a senior vice president and head of Asia Pacific for IMG, added: “After successfully distributing the 2008 Rugby League World Cup to 119 countries and 154 million homes, IMG is delighted to add such a prominent property to our diverse and ever growing catalogue. The acquisition of the NRL allows us to take this action packed premier rugby league to a whole new global audience. We are very close to finalizing a deal in the UK, thus allowing NRL’s many fans there to continue to enjoy live coverage of the sport.” |

I think they also distributed the last world cup to 100+ countries . Finger's crossed for Sky. |

Luckily been able to watch the 4 games so far on dvd but hopefully they will sort out UK coverage ASAP.

ESPN start live coverage of Aussie rules tomorrow and it will mainly be on Fridays and Saturdays so that rules out live NRL seen as it is played at the same time.
As for Sky the main question is if they can show it rather than do they want to.
They now have all the rugger stuff (super 14 or whatever it is called and South African Castle cup) as well as live English cricket which will be starting soon. Throw in Soccer AM etc then it does not leave much room for dedicated live NRL.
I think the best we will get is delayed coverage or highlights (hopefully on ESPN which will justify me having it).

It's on in the Bar i'm working in too, find a cheap flight on a Friday, watch Sky game, 4 Nrl games another Sky games, fly back Sunday, cheap as chips, do it Chris!!!! |

espn hd is just a simulcast of espn, espn america is purely for american sports and espn classic is for classic sport and to the best of my knowledge doesn't show any live sport. |

ESPN has only one live sport channel which is where the problem lies for them. Setanta used to show them both as they had two channels.
