wonder if we will get some mentions over the course of the broadcasts or whether it will all be about hull city (they are covering the portsmouth game on saturday)

well, as our season isn't active, why would they?

Heard Colin Murray a few weeks back about this and he mentioned all three teams, so I expect they will cover us. Especially if something fruity comes out of the forum tonight.

I had tickets for friday night but cannot go working.

It should be 80% rugby league.

Hull is a real hotbed for the game as evidenced by the support for both of it's professional teams. Hull City are the johnny-come-lately's and for most of their part have been more famous for being perenial toilers in the lower leagues rather than big hitters in the Premier League. At any rate, their downward spiral looks to be underway, and I'd advise anyone interested in them to enjoy what is little more than a cinderella tale with a sour ending.

Hull FC is one of the icons of the game and the old Boulevard was a home of probably many great tales. I always found it an intimidating place to visit.

Even though we were defeated in the semi final, I really enjoyed the 2005 CC as the return of a rugby league city to better things.

Although when Nicky Campbell asked Duffen about the popularity of the respective sports in Hull, he replied by making the point that football is more popular based on City's 24k average gate, as opposed to 21k for RL.

Great listen that. Sounds like Hull City have such an advantage being able to call on the whole city as opposed to a half of it.
Sounds like Campbell was genuinely impressed with his training session at Rovers.

I'd be interested how many fans come up from Liverpool, London and Manchester. Lets see what happens when the novelty factor wears off. Credit to Hull City for getting to the Premier League the 'hard' way, but I am largely unconvinced of their place in the pecking order...

The true test will be the attendances if they should ever get relegated. Similar to the Wigan Athletic situation.

The thing that gets to me with the BBC is that anyone who likes RU there seems to automatically believe that they must be a pr!ck when it comes to RL. Can't they have someone who enjoys the two sports...? Jiffy is there, but he is different as a former player.

Agree with your second comment. I probably come across as sour to the Tigers, but when I played Hull teams you could always sense the appetite for RL.

-last season you couldn't get a ticket,but when i was in the ticket office today aquiring our fc season passes for next year there were loads of north stand tickets left.maybe it was because portsmouth can't sell there full allocation,but it still shows that city tickets are easier to get than last season.their crowds will be back down to around 19k next year if they r relegated.

did he comment that a large amount of city's fans come from outside hull. the roads into hull in the west are rammed when city play with outsiders coming in

colin murray in fact likes both codes and has had good things to say about league in the past

He's obviously seen the odd game as he mentioned watching Aus V Nz match in Brisbane, saying he could feel the first tackle sat in the stands.

Inverdale and Stephen Jones are in that group of media employees who depise rugby league. Inverdale is a nothing who thankfully has little respect or influence.
