I really like what he's got to say there, personally. Particularly the closing comment:

It doesn't matter what Agar says, surely? He's only got three more games in charge according to you.

TBH he said that stats dont tell the full story without the wider context which i think is what we concluded on here anyway, FWIW normally people that dont value stats simply dont understand them!!

I don't think Agar's opinion is a surprise. If he held any other opinion, he really shouldn't be in the job.

Quite, we all know this anyway lets be honest, if people just purely look at stats to see whoe is the better player then they are silly.

We all agree, think we also all agree that those that dont take stats into considerations to build a coherant holistic arguement are also silly.

I agree with that aswell, stats are vital for a coach I would say. The problem is the type of stats available to fans are very basic and don't tell us a great deal other than they can be used to win the odd argument on RLF

Indeed, i would fully expect Hulls analysts to dive deeper into the face value stats that we see to add the context etc.

Which has been my point from the start. The problem I've had with people quoting them on here is that they do so without context and without any more analysis than pointing at the numbers and somehow believing that that is proof enough to end a debate.

Stats ? Has anyone looked at them on sky text ? Our players seem no where near the top of the lists do they ? Er, where are we ? Joint top of the league so it seems ! Says it all !!!!!

Ah yes, but the vast majority of those players above our players have played an extra match - particularly in the number of appearances statistic. When you take that into consideration the stats say a lot... statistically speaking..... so to speak...
