| Due to unavoidable babysitting duties , well I am 14 now , I had to listen to radio for last night's game.
Humberside - Richo and Murdoch are well informed and have good analysis.
Gollum - my , my, my - what an idiot.
Firstly he said the minute's applause was for Arthur Keegan but no mention of Jim Drake. Then he talked all the way through the minute's applause.
Later he said Radford was a great player as 1 week he played well and the next he played ordinary.
Then when Tom Briscoe made that big break you would have thought he had done a 20 y scoot. As a listener you would have thought nothing much had happened as Gollum never changed the pitch of his voice. BLAND.
Then he spent the next 2-3 minutes slagging off Tom Briscoe for not passing to Horne.
Then I went to KCFM for some great biased commentary where the Doyle also told me where to get a gret local satellite from !
Soon he will be telling me where to get a local massage.
Disappointed with Gollum I have to say

| Gwillym Lloyd is bad at his job; simple as. He is misinformed, has no real understanding of the game and attempts to court controversy as is the current trend with media personalities who lack in depth knowledge (Stevo). For some reason radio humberside stick with him and I think they actually believe that he is some kind of lovable rogue who listeners "love to hate".
How wrong they are.

| At least Murdoch will provide an unbiased opinion and you might know what's going on.
I like DDD, but I can't follow his commentries.
Gollum has even less of an idea.

| murdoch is OK and well informed, however lee richie is the best pundit on local radio IMO. Very honest and with an excellent insight into the game. Totally unbiased in his assessments too. gwillym is a waste of space and knows nothing about the game. RH would do well to bin him and bring in someone with a greater knowledge of rugby who could add something worthwhile

| Whilst Dead heads like "Burnsy" are in charge of the sports output, RH will continue to be rubbish. Glad I don't bother with it much now.

| Nice unbiased piece yesterday on KCFM from Rob Chadwick - 'The referee has given a penalty for a high shot, possibly by Mick Vella. But I didn't see it.'
Must have been the red'n'white blinkers you were wearing then - the co-commentator saw it

| Humberside need to take a look at radio BBC Leeds ( west yorks), to see how you produce a sports programme, very good commentry and always have excellent co-commentators.They also have light hearted entertainmet at the half time period, normally with Barry Mac doing his guest interviews.Of course only listen when Hull are playing in that area...
Still a very good programme.

| I was at the game and listened on my phone to Humberside. Murdoch is great, very informative, paints pictures with words, you know where the players are on the pitch and what is going on. Gets in a lot of information, great for a radio commentator.
Gollum...... He is gash! His player recognition is terrible, I lost count of the number of times he called Cussack Radford. You have no idea of where the ball is on the pitch or whats going on half the time.

| Well i'll stick my neck out and own up that I do like 'Gollums' commentary and also the co-commentators he has with his. I certainly prefer it to KCFM anyhow.
Strikes me that there was very few complaints before the Cookiegate scandal.

This is the problem for me. I didn't listen to the Rovers commentary on Sunday but at the start of the Oval Ball, Lloyd's voice was literally shaking with joy describing the moment of Dobson's drop goal asking people to phone in and tell him where they were and how they felt in that moment. Perhaps he reacted the same to Cusack's try at the KC, but I have a hunch that he didn't. We have Murdock (who I really rate) and Park as each team's pundit, so Lloyd should be both impartial and expert, and is neither.

| Gwillym Lloyd is a joke.
Him and his co hosts run a programme called "sportstalk" never has a word been been so misused as this, i have been in different areas of the country and listen how they present sport programmes and they are nothing like the pantomine we get from Radio Humberside.
We are very lucky if 50% of the progamme is anything to do with sport, it mainly consists of the presenters calling each other stupid names and telling us what they or their friends have been up to recently. The only time you serious sport is when the sports news is on.

What you might find interesting about Sunday is that there was good piece by James Rule about funding the new training facilities which I caught the last two sentences of, because it was broadcast in the Rovers part of the programme before The Oval Ball started, why was'nt it in our local Rugby League magazine show which in total had about 6 minutes of Hull FC?
However everyone knows my views so I won't reiterate them however Mr lloyd on Friday night said "And on Sunday the black and whites of Rovers go to Odsal" and on Sportstalk tonight said this of Friday nights game, "I thought Tom Briscoe had a poor game!".

The guy's a Seatbelt. I have no time or respect for him.
Last season in Perpignan he sat in the bar near us and proceeded to spout cack. Lee Richardson just sat and watched the match, every now and then he'd raise his eyebrows and sigh as Gollum kept on spouting more and more cack.

Him and Mullan both said that Wigan were in big trouble if that was the best they could do, and slated Amos Roberts for gifting us a try and saying Riddell was worse than useless. Both said that Noble will be in danger of losing his job, so poor and unfit were Wigan. Whilst I don't disagree that Wigan were poor, the slant was that Wigan were so bad we were handed the win on a plate.
Contrast with the slant on Rovers who were praised for their towering defence and Dobson's inspirational drop goal - they even gave Morgan an open question along the lines of "Tell us how great Dobson is". Despite Bradford's lack of creativity, they were still classed as top 4 material. No mention of Jefferies and Platt having terrible games in the same way that they slated Riddell and Roberts. No mention of Briscoe (Shaun) knocking on 3 times, but plenty of time to criticise Briscoe (Tom) for having an all-round poor game and lacking maturity in decision-making (this latter point being complete bollox anyway). A lot of airtime given to Vella's impending lay-off, no mention of FC missing Raynor, Tony, Whiting. Let's face it, with this sort of bias in evidence one game into the season we're not going to get anything of value from RH in 2009. A shambles.

At least DDD has passion for OUR club, no matter how hard it is to follow the game from his commentary.
While Gollum remains at RH I won't be tuning in. I don't suppose that will worry them, but there you go.
