He is certainly a prick a misinformed one, my son attends Trinity..
It is a system which has been used sucessfully in USA in order to eradicate bullying (kids demnding others dinner money).
The system used does not take a full image of the finger print. It works by sampling parts of the print that are compared each time. these 'parts' cannot be replicated into a full print image.
Trinity do some great initiatives, last year my son went away for a week on a course' Restorative Practice', he then went into Collingwood Primary which was featured and praised on Look North to work with younger children using restorative practice..
Clearly the school is addressing Bullying and all he can do is critise without the full facts..he sounds like the fool he is.

Even better listen to the clowns interview about it on Radio Humberside. He talks about people getting into it from the Internet and uses the example of some German who worked out the electronic systems in passports whatever thats got to do with it. Think hes being watching too much "war games". Clearly any systems can be hacked and if everything is connected even from the internet. But he then rants on about the school board could go to prison if the information is hacked into. Well that would apply to anything including information the council stores about you or hospital data for example so should they stop using computers too? Presuming the network admin guy at the school isnt some sort of fool it will be pretty well protected if not almost a standalone system.

we had the same entry system on our room at Animal Kingdom... whats the big deal hes making, why dont they work on something worthwhile like making the bridge free or something folk would respect!!

Makes you laugh don't it and EYMS put in the lowest tender as well.

I have asked the council several times what happens for using the KC stadium. EYMS can epxand the service quite easily by utilising double deckers, I can not see this new company having DD stood around awaiting match days.

So far I have not had a reasonable answer, " The service that will provided by the company will meet the needs of the service " is very vague .

Minns is about as useless as it gets, the people of Hull have had some very poor public servants over the years, but as cod'ead points, when only 26% of the electorate vote it's hard to foster change.

He's too thick (or should get his facts right) to realise that this system has been used in school libraries for years to take books out. Hubby works in schools and says it only stores part finger prints and theres more information on pupils held on teachers/admin staff laptops than there are in these machines.

I can't really get much out of them as I am not on the electoral roll for the area anymore, but I have tried a freedom of information act to see the papers relating to the tendering process, not getting far, maybe if some like minded people want to try then answers might be a bit more forthcoming.

I've never heard anything so ridiculous.

Currently at Uni doing teaching and seen these systems in action during placement, its a simple top up account and finger print system. This makes sure all parents, and the school can ensure the kids have money for food at school, which cuts out some risk of bullying (taking money from a child etc.)

As long as the system which houses all children's data is properly looked after, which they are, then systems like this can only protect a child, not put them in danger.

Being in a position to comment, there is an awful lot more to this than meets the eye.

Basically, the contract was only awarded to CT Plus because they offered to bail out the ailing WHCT arm of the council's transport service, something which was not part of the original tender package, and something which if EYMS management had known about, would have included in their offer at no extra cost, still making it cheaper than CT's offer by £34,000.

CT Plus held a meeting on Sunday with the current Park & Ride staff and other members of EYMS management. The drivers have been offered the chance to transfer over under a TEPE agreement. After this meeting they agreed as one that they will be going nowhere near CT Plus. No buses (as per the article), no lease agreement signed on the land, operating with 1 spare vehicle (which is asking for trouble with a fleet of brand new vehicles), maintenance to be undertaken by "a man in a garage 3 streets away" (ditto), minor maintenance, fuelling, cleaning and washing to be done by the drivers, probably at the end of a 12-hour shift, although no-one knows about that because they haven't even drawn up any schedules or duties! Shambolic doesn't even come close.

As for Ian P's point about special events, rumours are that EYMS have been approached, but so have 2 of the area's less salubrious bus companies. Let's put it this way, if the work is contracted to them, there will be at least 3 wheelchair users who will have no way of returning to Priory Park after City night matches, that i do know.

Nothing about it adds up, and i know i can't really say what i believe has gone on, but you can read the above and draw your own conclusions. What i do know is that EYMS have run that Park & Ride for over 6 years, have received minimal complaints, have always provided buses for all occasions and events, and yet the council sees fit to offer the contract to an out of town cowboy outfit, while taking part in the HDM's 'Bounceback' campaign! Amazing!

Just as an aside, there is a Bus Forum at Guildhall on January 27th. If you use the Park & Ride, whether it be every day or for FC/City games, get yourselves down there and tell them what you think.

I haven't lived in Hull since I left as a 19 year old and I remember my own school Bransholme high been pretty rough at the best of times especially when it came to bullying/nicking dinner money/dinner tickets etc('82-86). However it sounds like things are now even worse in some schools and those in charge just aren't coming up with solutions to eradicate the problems. Even worse when a school comes up with an excellent solution to one of those problems that offers a modicum of control for parents yet a councillor does huge damage by not getting hard evidence to back up his claims or likely even approaching the head first. Has the hierachy of the school system & the schools themselves got so bad in Hull?

As far as I see it unless somebody in power has the kahunas to accept that the problems at hand (even just at a school level) are affecting the long term success & reputation of the city as a whole & do something drastic about it, then things will not improve one iota. This Minns muppet obviously hasn't a clue.

I look back & think myself fortunate that where I live I managed to get my son into our closest high school(a comprehensive) were any forms of abuse just weren't tolerated and dealt with very quickly. They even had the older ones sorting out some of the issues which was backed by parents, do they have any schemes like that in the schools to help alleviate/ early reporting of bullying?
