| One of the positive things about today for me, the kid has a bright future, he was often left exposed today but handled things as well as can be expected.

I take it he is more of a centre than a winger?
Is the right his preferred side in the 20s???

Interesting point actually, Phillip (well done).
In a couple of years should Briscoe head down under, I wonder if Crooks and Crookes will be our wingers?

| No Crooks is a better centre and his preffered side is the left. Move over Yeaman you'd be better off on the right anyways.

| get the kid in the that's where Gental wants him next year might as well as get some time in this year. Turner is on his way he can play the season out on the wing for me filling the gaps.

| The problem is that like TURNER, they have nothing to play for.
NO PRIDE, NO PASSION, NO CONTRACT.
Nothing will change until the weeping pricks who wanted an easy life under AGAR have left our club.
At this rate we will replace Leeds in 9th position.

| Although Turner has a really good strike rate for us during his Hull career which started with him not having a set position. He had a brilliant 4 or so games for us which had alot of people thinking he'd turned into this quality centre (me included). But within the last 4 games his form has just gone down hill. Wether his mind is not with Hull anymore and he's thinking about next season with Saints or his attitude has changed. But I will admit I'm not too fussed about him seeing as he hasn't been able to carry his form for longer than a handful of games. If there willing to give Lineham a run out in the first team then I would look to play Crooks at right centre. But would be a big risk playing Crooks and Lineham on the same side together.

| Like I said I would be willing to take the risk, but it could go either way imo. I would rather give Lineham a few games this season and possibly prep him for next season than sign an average winger in Jason Crookes. Promote our own if we can.

| Thought Ben did pretty well out on the wing. Unfortunate to be penalised for that regularly pinged [ioffside from a scrum[/i when he put a great hit on to dislodge the ball. He and Sammy Moa were the two to emerge with credit - Yeaman did pretty well too considering he's been out for a while. Can't think of anyone else who earned their money really.

There are two problems with this.
1. He's only been fulltime for a couple of months and won't be ready.
2. He's currently injured.

| I thought he did OK today, but there were a couple of times he got away but got caught when Briscoe would have scored.
I thought Turner played well in attack today, there were a couple of catch and passes he made that were out of the top drawer.

| For Crooks to be a genuine contender for a regular first team spot, he needs to find some pace. This is no a dig at the lad, as overall he has done well, but for a back, at the moment he isnt fast enough to cause the opposition any real worries.

| I agree, the wakey game at the weekend was the first time I've seen him 'live' so to speak and it confirmed what I thought from seeing him on TV regarding his lack of pace.
On a positive note though he clearly has a little bit of size to put on and if he can concentrate on explosive type training to build the muscle and more importantly the fast twitch fibres in them he could gain a lot of pace as well as an ability to bust a lot more tackles and put some big hits in.
I think we have a very promising prospect on our hands

| Margo Wells the wife of Olympic gold medal winner Alan Wells did sprint/intensive athletic training with Danny Cipriani to great effect, reckon it wouldn't be a bad idea to get something along those lines pre season.
It's about time the club got some professionals from outside RL & not just in terms of fitness/speed but also it seems in terms of mental preparation. Does the club even have a sports pyschologist working with the squad. I'd doubt it given the implosions of the last 3 weeks...

it is incredibly difficult to train to gain pace, nigh on impossible in fact.

| His pace is fine for a centre (which is his best position).

| I dont agree, I competed in 200m and 400m to international standard up to U18 level and with some proper coaching and traning he would make massive improvements, even if his overall speed didnt improve but his acceleration to getting to his top speed was improved this would make him much faster over the first 10-15 yards which would make a lot of difference to how many clean breaks he makes - Darren Campbell for example offers this to lots of sports clubs.
I also dont agree that his pace is fine for a centre, I think the likes of Atkins and Watkins in this country show that there is no substitute for pace and make the difference between a club standard player and international standard.
But hey ho as I said before he is an exciting prospect and I'm looking forward to watching him develop

| The old method are the best .Make him run with weights on his back or an old car tyre tied to the back on a harness .My lad laugh when I told him I trained like this in the Army .I use to run miles with a large pack filled with rocks .People took the pi-s but they didn't catch me when it mattered

yes, and he'll end up with arthritic knees and a bent spine in later life.
