Having watched the Under 21's on Friday night vs Leeds I have to say that Jack Briscoe looks a ready made fullback in the next couple of years. He is only 17 I believe and scored 2 great tries showing real pace and composure. The first was excellent support play and Kallum Watkins (not exactly slow) from Leeds couldn't get near him. The second was pure class, darting through a gap and throwing an outrageous dummy to score under the posts.

There is also Reece Lynne who I am led to believe is a potential star centre with pace to burn and a great rugby brain. Throw into the mix Tom Briscoe who we all know is class and the doom and gloom at present should hopefully be replaced by a brighter future.

As for the forwards, well I have to say there doesn't seem to be an abundance of talent in the under 21's but hopefully we will unearth a couple of decent forwards in the next two to three years.

Also I believe we need to keep Sam Moa. He plays with aggression and you can sense the crowd lift when he takes the ball up. I don't sense this when Radford, Dowes, etc. plough forward. He can only get better. Radford, Dowes will not improve.

I see Reece Lynne scored 3 tries on the weekend, thats already about 5 tries in three or four games.
Really excited about him progressing through the ranks.

hull fc acadamy play their castleford counterparts on saturday(11th) at west hull's ground ko-2-30pm.not been to see them play yet,but fully intend to go on saturday.it would be nice to see a decent crowd.

Wonder how long it will be before we can expect to see them both in the first team, 2 years?

Both will play for the first team within two years.

Briscoe should get a couple of games next year.

Be good to both the Briscoe's and Lynne in the side along with Tansey and Yeaman, good young backline.

Think Briscoe will get CC experience next year.

Lets just hope that these top talents get the chance to reach their potential, which really hasnt happened to most of our young players this past decade, one full international from our academy this decade says it all

FWIW i may be tempted to play Jack Briscoe towards the end of this season if we cant/dont make the playoffs. If Broughton has gone back he may well get a game sooner rather than later.

Lets hope they don't get bigged up too much (like Lee / Washbrook / A Thackery etc) to be world beaters only to be slated for left right and centre when they don't turn out to be the next Wally Lewis.

Out of those 3 Tommy Lee is the only 1 who got bigged up all throughout his junior career. Anth Thack pretty much slipped under the radar.

Thackerays brother was bigged up a lot though, although not as much as Tommy Lee who was getting tons of comments from the likes of David Waite

barrie mcdermott mentioned on sky the other week that lee crooks had told him about reece lynne,and that he was potentially a class act to watch out for.let's hope fc look after these kids,and don't flog them to death!!

has anybody spotted a potential home grown scrum half for the future,i cannot believe that with the amount of junior rugby played in the city neither ourselves or rovers have unearthed a little jack russell type snappy tw*t that can be groomed into a class half back.

Lee Williams looks excellent when I have seen him in the under 18's and when he played for Skirlaugh under 16's.

He certainly has potential to be a great 7.

Danny Houghton played all his youth at 6 and we play him at hooker.

Reece Lynn, without putting too much pressure on him, will come good im sure. Hes similar to Leon Pryce. Spent his youth days at Hull Isberg and Mel Harman was tipped off about him a few years ago as 2 other clubs were sniffing round.

From there age group Tommy Lee, Scott Moore and Thomas Coyle were all tipped by many respected names in the game to be world class stand offs or halfbacks, at he ages of 21 Lee and Moore have both had to change positions to get regular SL games, they are both doing well especially Moore but still not what many expected, while Coyle was at Oldham last time I looked, Danny Houghton was tipped as a great 7 when he played was younger and im sure there are many other examples at other clubs, we just have a problem in this country of turning potential in to world class players when it comes to 6s and 7s not just Hull, Id even be surprised if any of the likes of Eastmond, Tomkins or Myler who are already first team players turn out to be real top class halfbacks.

To be fair Mel Harman must look at every player in Hull at all levels and we don't seem to uncover many half backs in a city this size.The West Riding area seems to produce a lot more players and places like Featherstone seem to produce a lot more players of super league quality than we do.
