Just wondered what you Hull fans think of having sean long around for another season.
There is some kind of connection with OUR Robbie Paul, i.e. 'highest wage earner'.
Now, Robbie has hardly missed any games for us, but he seems like a luxury we could do without. Had his moments, but his legs are 34 years old, OK we finished 3rd, but don't think he had ONE real match winning display this season
Sean Long, lots of injuries in his 1st season with you, would you be happy to have him next season, or would you rather start looking now for a replacement now, or have you a '2nd choice' who is looking like a potential regular no.7 1st teamer.
I know sometimes it's the players around you that can make you look awesome, but I think that if I was Richard Agar, I would think about bringing someone else in.

past his best, id release if we had an adequate replacement, but seeing as we havent had a top scrum half who can stay fit in years, i doubt that will happen

A lot of us like longy, but we also knew the risks of taking him on. On his day he is still a world-beater, (see saints away first game) but these days are too few and far between.

At the minute we have nobody at the club ready to step up and take over from him, although we have a couple of young halves in the under 20's they just aren't ready yet.

Rumours are that we have looked at Kyle Briggs from Fev. From what you have seen of him against your lot this season, is he any good? Worth a punt?

Sean Long would destroy the National Leagues.
On his day he is still probably top 5 no.7 in Super League.

BIG STEP UP isn't it, but although a top stand off, (won player of the league whilst at Doncaster and Fev's player of the season 2010) but he is no.6 and Richard Horne will be at Hull forever won't he ? Didn't notice Briggs when we beat them 36-6 in the NRC (COULDN'T RESIST) but I think he is definitely worth a look at, but don't know about Hull FC, where 'top six place' is expected at the very least. Wish we had him though, and maybe a club like salford/wakey/cas would be a great move for Kyle.

You have to ask yourself, what are Hulls ambitions? None of the big 4 clubs would have taken long so why did Hull? He wouldnt have come cheap either.

Saints have a rule that when you hit 30, you get offered a one year deal max on reduced wages. No room for sentiment.

I think for Hull to kick on, they have to try and fill the spine positions (1,6,7,9,13) with good quality players who arent comming to the end of their careers and players who wont just play for a season or two before moving on. Berrigan was a fantastic signing, but you lack the quality in the other positions.

Look at the successful teams and they always have stability, year on year in these positions.

Yes, Wigan and Hull were the two with the best offers but Hull offered "the best package by far" including a house over here. Long and his agent then went back to Saints who could not match the offer we had made.

I like Dobson,but I have said before,Long has nothing to prove over his career.
Yes,he is past his prime,but that doesn`t alter the fact he is quality.

He is still a good player , but all the things he won before count for nothing at Hull , it's winning cups for his current team is what counts now.

I am just pointing out this Dobson /Long debate mate.
If both were the same age and start which would you go for? tough choice I reckon.
