| [quote="Chris71":1ogt2dvg]Disappointing scoreline and again with a big crowd. Wigan are experts at slowing teams down and they did that pretty much all game other than that bright 10mins were we managed to get and play some quicker ball. Also thought defensively Wigan were on the move as we were bending down to ptb where as we were waiting until it was played so they rolled us down the field and we just couldn’t get going.
Plenty of positives, we looked much more disciplined, looked better in the wrestle, certainly look fitter and you could see that we do have some structure to our play & Salabio looks like he may well be a pretty good pick up. Thought Barron and Martin again stood up well.
Think there definitely signs that there’s more to come but as has been mentioned we have little to no depth once we lose 3 or 4 players. Ligi is a big concern as didn’t look good, also noticed that Asiata went off in the 2nd half and don’t think I saw him on the field or touch line at the end of the game.
Definitely need some reinforcements / additions asap.
Ultimately Wigan are a class apart and were very clinical tonight and found the holes in our rejigged lines very well and punished us.
Happy to be 1 from 2 at this stage, long road ahead as we are very much a work in progress.[/quote:1ogt2dvg]
Asiata was in the dugout area with a bib on so I reckon he was fine. Game was well gone so I suspect Cartwright had clocked the bad luck around the place and decided to bring him off.

| Well last night wasn't as bad as we've witnessed over the last few seasons, we now look like a rugby team at least, but last night was simply a team in transition against the best team in super league, Wigan were outstandingly good.
Few points, why do we constantly use wingers to drive the ball in from tackle one, where the hell are the forwards - Wigan don't do it? We used to do it 20 years ago and it worked but we did it once the forwards had put a stint in, now they're stood around and we still use our wingers which I'm is having a negative effect on them, possibly resulting in why Barron got caught on his break.
Looking at positives, Sezer is looking a great addition, Briscoe played well and I'm his biggest critic due to his age now, Fash not great first half but actually did better in the second half when I think playing second row. Salabio at times looks lazy, at times looks class, Barron growing in confidence all the time, Rapana you can see his quality but was a bit ineffective imo.
Looking at negatives, Chamberlain was poor and doesn't lol a great signing, Aydin and Cust quiet but both got hammered defensively
I didn't walk away too disheartened, just disappointed that all these fans who obviously want to support fc witnessed another tonkin, christ I've been taking my sixteen year old for a few years now and hes rarely sees a dominant class fc performance, surprised he wants to come tbh

| Anyone know the completion rate and errors for Wigan? Wouldnt surprise ne if they were around 90-100% both halves, plus you could count on one hand the number of errors last night from them, not including penalties either....that how good they were.

According to the Super League website they completed at 99% whereas we completed at 66%. They made nearly 1000 metres more than we did.

Wow! If those stats are correct there is no wonder the game unfolded as it did!
Looking back on last night in the cold light of a new day, Wigan were nigh on perfect throughout the whole eighty minutes. Power, pace, teamwork, inventiveness, they had the lot.
We worked hard, stuck at it the best we could, and didn't let our heads drop too much which is a big improvement on past seasons, but last night was a sobering reminder of how far we have to travel if we wish to compete again at the top. Hopefully we won't have to witness too many more games like this or the effects will begin to have a detrimental impact on the season. They need to file last night under 'experience' and move on to games where we may be able to compete on a slightly more even footing, here's hoping so.

| I agree with most of the above reviews.
On the plus side, I thought we did show improvement in defence, especially the wrestle. Our discipline was much better (no cards!!!). Although limited opportunities, our attack does look more direct, and has more zip in the passing.
On the downside, our squad depth is too thin. With last week’s injuries, we’d all but lost this game during the week. Add Ligi to the list mid-game and we had no chance.
Wigan were very good and didn’t really need to break sweat. Jai Field looked like he could score when he wanted. Saying that, it’s only small console, but last season our team would have thrown the towel in, had players sin binned and conceded over 60-70 points.
Still not disheartened. This season is all about improvement and realistically we are targeting 8/9th spot. Beating Cats was a plus and we’ve already shown what we are capable of.
The next few games are winnable, but we need some bodies back and we need at least a couple of signings to strengthen the squad.
