| [quote="mwindass":2z0j7wxj]Briscoe was probably selected at centre for the same reason Rapana was at 1.
Catalans are a physical team and we needed all the help from back field as possible.
Westermans time will come, but away at Catalans round 1 probably wasn't it[/quote:2z0j7wxj]
Yeah I said earlier on in the week on the Catalans thread that I’d play that exact backline for that reason, didn’t think it was a game for Moy either TBH and the meters the back 5 got through justifies that. Regardless of opposition though think Briscoe is a good option in the centres in any circumstance, was just intrigued as to why Bonaire would rather see a young lad who still qualifies for the academy flogged needlessly when we have a good option there.

Admittedly I don't really know what I'm looking at but it this doesn't look good for the Salford takeover.
Jacobsen group look to have pulled out of the deal?[/quote:2uxw0rkc]
I’m not an expert on these things maybe it’s completely normal but for me it always looked a bit dodgy having a Swiss banker with no media footprint as the frontman of the consortium, i’d have felt dodgy about it if it was us. Now they’re saying it’s friends of Kristnan Inu who’ve bought the club?
I suppose it does say that though that the request was tabled on the 11th (last Tuesday) and they were still pretty adamant all through the weekend that it was all done and dusted so maybe it’s not as bad as it looks and possibly just a reshuffle of shareholders or whatever. I don’t believe it’s the just the normal RFL incompetence that’s holding this up though something can’t be fully right with it all.[/quote:2uxw0rkc]
I'd say given the way Salford have willfully acted since announcing this issue almost as soon as the IMG grades were confirmed and released that the RFL for all their faults (of which I am critical) in this instance are correct in maintaining their stance until Salford have met all the steps required for the good of the game.
It might just be me being cynical now I've passed 50yrs old but not a lot adds up for me with the Salford takeover and I wonder if its just more delaying tactics.

Quite obviously, I don't know exactly where this process is at (does anyone I'm beginning to wonder!), but for the integrity of the sport the situation needs to be solved not only quickly but correctly. The game does not want to find itself in a situation 6/9 months down the line with Salford in an even bigger mess than they are now due to a lack of diligence being carried out into this affair simply in order to bring about a swift short-term resolution to the whole mess. We have seen this happen before, and in other sports too, the end result of which is an even bigger hole to be dug out of. A number of EFL football clubs have sunk into an even deeper mess after a so-called 'knight in shining armour' came to 'rescue' them from the pit.
Either way, this situation cannot be left to fester on for too much longer. Many more repeats of the Saints game will make a mockery of the entire competition. What if Salford end up putting out a reserve/youth team for, say, 9/10 games and then suddenly start fielding a full strength 17 chomping at the bit to get restarted! How does that equate into a level playing field for all concerned.

Looks like the money has gone in now so they’ll be able to name a full strength side for Saturday.

Let’s hope so as it has been an embarrassing episode for the sport.
