Fantastic idea didn't the manager at Grimsby take his players to the Fish Dock early in the mornings for the same reasons? Might have been Lawrie McMenemy.
This is a policy that Craig Bellamy has always used at Melbourne. All new signings have to spend a couple of weeks digging up roads etc. Inglis, Smith, Cronk, Slater have all done it, no exceptions. Hasn't done them any harm has it?!
With the state of the fishing industry in this country and manufacturing in hull they'd be lucky to get a job in a fish factory if their rugby career doesn't take off, perhaps having them stacking shelves on nights in asda or collecting glasses in wetherspoons might be a more realistic warning nowadays!
At the forum it was said that they are going all over not just in the fishing industry, Smailesey just picked up on that. These kids are already in the classroom studying for a qualification every day at Bishop Burton. The idea was to give them an insight as to the working environment but more to get the players out there rubbing shoulders with fans in the work place to see how much the Club means to them and the sacrifices they make to support it. Its only going to be for a short period and doing it for a week or so shows nothing to lose for me and any fans who don't see it as a good idea probably have their attitudes coloured by the factor that they don't like Lee Radford but for me its a great idea!.
