If somebody would have said to me at the beginning of this year we would be in with a shot of 5th place, playoffs and a challenge cup final I wouldn't have been too devastated!
Yes, it hurts to lose a final, having watched it back (god knows why) defensively we were sound! Wigan are a remarkably well drilled outfit, their attacking play is relentless but sometimes wonderful to watch! Which got me thinking, what's different? How many coaches do they have, Deacon, Harris, more? Could we not benefit by taking their example? Employing talented ex-players who have a wealth of experience and knowledge to pass on to our youth system? Proven winners in big game situations! You look at football clubs they have Managers, Assistants, Coaches throughout their whole set up! I honestly think this would be a much more productive approach than the usual knee jerk reaction of sacking the coach and bringing in another under the same set up! I think a new approach from Youth to First Team coaching is needed!
