I was just thinking how well off we are for Field kickers, Obviously DJ,but then we've got Houghton,and Heremia ,(who can both kick from acting half,) also Horne when fit, and not forgetting Miller. All 5 are capable 40/20 kickers. Compare this to the Agar years, Horne and houghton where playing then, but we never had a kicking game to speak of then--- wonder why!

Great post. One thing that's puzzled me is why Milky takes any free kicks to touch and usually gains at most 20 metres. Holdsworth is quite capable of taking us 40 or 50 metres.

In the early years of having Whiting he would take them and smack them a mile up field, not sure why he doesn't still, unless his leg break put a stop to it!

Worth mentioning Crooks' chip over the line is pretty good too, bet he could give it a good boot up field as well.

Going for 40+ metre kicks unless the need really dictates (last minute & a score in it) is a risky ploy unless you are uber confident & do it day in day out (Gary Pearce for instance)
Far better to make touch for absolute sure rather than fluff it, lose possesion/territory & puts you right on the back foot.
