Quote ="Rock God X"Sure. For a start, I think the bit about player recruitment has to go. Many people would argue that this has been one of Agar's stronger areas. Mistakes have been made, I think, but there have been some successes as well.
I think the bit about 'all other SL teams' having a top quality proven SL coach has to go as well, as it's not true.
I also thinki the statement needs to be less emotional. I appreciate that emotions are running high at the moment, but it doesn't come across well in a petition that's intended to be presented to the board.
I'd stick to a very general statement about how the off-field set up is not being matched by results (and performances) on the field and how Agar seems unable to get the best out of a decent group of players.
I've never drafted a petition before, but I'd go something along these lines:
[iWe, the undersigned, wish to petition for the immediate removal of Richard Agar from his position as Head Coach of Hull FC. We do so on the following grounds:
1) That performances throughout his tenure have not been of an acceptable standard given the playing staff as his disposal. Lack of support play, poor defensive line speed, lack of any discernible attacking structure and the tendency for our edge defence to be exposed have been features of our play for the entire time that Richard Agar has been in charge of the first team. There has been little to no improvement in these areas.
2) The interchanges executed by the coach seem to make little sense. Some players seem to be forced into playing many more minutes than they ought to whilst others play only for very short spells to the detriment of the overall team performance.
3) Agar seems unable to motivate his players for big games. The recent derbies and the last two home games against Leeds are standout examples of this, but there have been many throughout Agar's tenure.
4) Most fans watch rugby league for entertainment. Our style of rugby under Richard Agar has been anything other than entertaining. We are also amongst the most expensive team to watch in the entire competition. It is time that the standard of entertainment improved to reflect this fact.
5) Off the field, we are a top-performing club. We have one of the highest average attendances in Super League and excellent merchandise sales. We are constantly reminded of our 'Grade-A' licence status, yet, when it comes to results on the field, we're no better than Grade B or C.
We, as loyal fans of Hull FC, will support this club through thick and thin provided we know that those running the club are doing everything within their power to bring us the success we deserve. As things stand, we feel that this is not the case. Until Richard Agar is replaced with a top-quality coach with a proven track record of success, the feeling amongst the signatories below will be that you are doing both the club and the fans a great disservice. [/i
That's just off the top of my head and others might have a better idea of how it ought to be structured than I. Any input is welcome...'"
2. has to go for me... I'm a fan and as a fan I have opinions but I do not work in RL so cannot comment on interchanges or the finer tactical detail which, despite what some on here think, only those directly involved in the game are placed to argue for or against. The coach ain't doing his job.... FACT. I think all the other points are well made.
