Going down on the sunday morning on a coach trip, coach is coming back the sunday night but sacking it off to stay in central cardiff and trundle home on the train monday, not been to a MM before and i;m not too confident about the game but will enjoy the day/night regardless!
theres lots of talk wether the magic weekend is a good or bad concept for me its an absoulote craking concept that brings this great game together but the only problem is the crowd 30k on each day with 15-20k in at any time dosent look great when your playing in a 70-80k stadium and dosent give the sport much credibility. my suggestion is start the season with the derbies and as a heritage week so teams play in old kits ect with maybe double headers with every game on sky for example hull vs rovers and leeds vs bradford and cas vs huddersfield at elland road with saints vs wigan warrington vs widnes and crusaders vs salford at anfield with good promotion and cheap tickets with lots of marketing there no reason why these 2 days wont sell out resulting in 70-80k people for the opening round of super league then mid season you could hold the so called magic weekend in nottingham with the 7 games split at the city ground and pride park both grounds very close to each other and both hold around the 30k so the stadium would look full and would lead to an good atmosphere also has the expansion feel to it thoughts
Had a good weekend, but like you say the stadium is too big (or the crowds too small) - but I can't see where else they could play, the soccer teams won't want 7 games played on their pitches.
I love the idea of it all, and the weather could have been a lot worse, but I do prefer the May Bank Holiday, maybe try the last Bank Holiday in May rather than the first.
