Quote ="Standee"Nobody in the Council could give assurances about buying any asset, be it the KC, a Museum, Gallery or major piece of art owned by HCC. The comittee stages involved in disposing of any asset (and especially a major one such as the KC) would be time consuming in the extreme, then people would have to be given a 28 day consultation period and be allowed to make representations to cabinet, it may even get "called in" by Whitehall as it is such a high profile issue (on a local level).
If it were THAT easy for Council's to dispose of assets then there would be authorities up and down the country disposing of all manner of assets in an attempt to plug the various funding gaps.
I don't think we should take "some bloke down my local" as a "reliable and knowledgeable source" (or whatever Eric referred to them as.
Anyone ever sold a house?, you know how long that takes, and there are no complex political or legal issues associated with it, selling an asset of the crown (which is, in effect, what the KC is) would be ten fold more complex (IMHO)'"
I'm not disputing any of the above and you certainly seem to know what you're talking about. However, time will tell and the stadium will be sold and developed, be it now, 2 or 5 years time.
