I've never understood the logic behind that. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Lauaki cannot play down the left or is significantly more effective on the right. The only slight benefit I can see is that his left to right passing is stronger than right to left, making him more effective at giving service to those outside him when he's down the right, but Tickle's the same, so there's no real gain there. All it means is that our right channel defence goes to sh[size=100i[/sizet and our left channel attack suffers similarly. We go from sending Manu at the half/centre, putting Yeaman away, to Tickle running unders lines or, more often, getting it on a drop-off, working back inside towards the forwards. When that's happening on the right, with him sometimes holding his line and having the option of giving the pass wide, it's fine, but that isn't going to happen down the left.
