I never saw Swain or Kearney do it, I know many players who never do during the season.
Christ, I know train drivers who CAN'T within 24 hours of a shift.
It really makes me laugh what some people think is acceptable, do you think Usain Bolt drinks?
They are MEAN TO BE PROFESSIONAL SPORTSMEN, the SHOULD NOT drink or smoke, at least during the season.'"
when Kearney was at Hull he gave the academy lads a lecture on looking after thereselves and said they shouldnt be looking to go out on the beer more than once a month. Listening to Lee Crooks at a dinner the other month he said that you can tell the players who had a good session (more than just 6 pints) on a saturday after a game even as late as tuesday or wednesday in training - their bodies havent been able to recover from the game or the alcohol.
people need to realise these guys are meant to be athletes at their peak, pushing their bodys to the limits. its not like 10/15/20 years ago. in general you can't do both, fair enough some players manage a career at the top getting away with it, but some people are more natural athletes than others and some players have talent and a game that doesnt really on them being fully fit. just coz one player does it doesnt mean its ok for the rest, and it shouldnt be ok for the individual
