Yesterday was the last game that I'll be able to get to for quite a while as I'm emigrating to New Zealand in a couple of weeks, so it would have been nice to go out on a win after 30 years of attending 6-8 games a season.
So here are my thoughts on the current position as I leave the country
- I've only seen Hull play four times this season, but each time they don't get going until Danny Houghton comes onto the pitch, by which time (yesterday being the perfect example) the opposition has stamped their authority on the game. Houghton gives the team some go forward and creativity from half back.
- Thorman is having a stinker of a season and whenever he tries something it just doesn't come off. But for Agar to bring him off so publically when the players were waiting for the conversion was out of order. I really felt for the kid. It said more about Agar's poor management skills than anything else.
- Horne R, Yeaman and Raynor are pale shadows of the players they were 3-4 years ago.
- Richard Whiting has the best rugby brain in the squad since Cookie. He's creative and decisive in looking for the chance to take a quick tap or gain any other advantage. Why was he kept on the bench for so long yesterday. He was also unlucky with the short kick off (looked like another poor refereeing decision to me)
- Can we swap the kickers around?
- Kick off: Danny Tickle can boot the ball out of the ground. Unfortunately that's what he does. As someone next to me said yetserday as the ball sailed beyond the dead ball line "You'd think he'd get it right given the amount of practice he's had this year!" So let Thorman or some one else take the kick offs and keep them in touch. Use the short kick off more often.
- Kicks for touch: Thorman only makes 10-15 yards. Use Whiting or Tickle to put gain us 30-40 yds.
- Drop out: Tell Danny T that he can kick the ball as far as he wants. It will make his day!
Best wishes to all Hull fans and I'll keep an eye on the message board. Thanks for all the happy memories, whether they be escaping relegation in the late eighties and 1999 or league titles and cup wins.

This is my take on Hull at the moment, things arent great but in my 26 years in supporting Hull, things have been a lot worst.
At the moment we seem to have too many average players, missing big players in key positions and have a poor coaching set up. (Looking at our signings next season the first two have been taken care of).
Ten years ago I wouldnt have dreamed of playing a stadium like the KC with crords over 10K every week signing players like Berrigan, O Meley and Long etc.
Things will get better (I would guess the next two years
with me not being here).
I will still be on here still most weeks and on game days (time difference permitting).
We better bloody win on Friday, also a win against Rovers would also be a great send off.
Oh and good luck in NZ mate at least you will still have the chance to watch some live RL.'"
Good luck teaching in Thailand, the kids will probably learn a lot more over there than some of the people at Syd
