I’m not excusing the social media stuff or the web site but digital advertising, forget it.

When we did the leaflet job we looked into it and it’s incredibly expensive, especially when taken as a percentage of your budget. I was shocked.

I’ll put it this way. To run a concerted digital campaign over a season would get you that extra prop! It has to be intense to have any real effect and even then it’s impossible to really prove it’s worked.

That said there is always way. What we could do as a low cost alternative is buy our own second hand screen and place at the edge of OUR carpark. Turning it around once a day to catch rush hour traffic. It’s a limited demographic but it’s cheap.

Ditto a big TV screen in the Ridings shop advertising games assuming we are allowed. That is basically free, a second hand 70’’ screen is a few hundred pound off ebay.

My gripe is a lack of imagination and I don’t blame NC he’s an accountant but some at Trinity are not doing there job as well as I’d like.

We probably [ishould[/i win this game, but I'm not buying into the myth that Huddersfield are coming packed with weak reserve players.
They no doubt have better strength in depth than us and will still be up for it. We've had our best (and only effective) prop missing for weeks and don't know if he will be making this one, so really without a dominant pack I think we do have an excuse!

After our last 3 games "should" win, is very optimistic, maybe "could" is more accurate.
We somehow need the team spirit that was there at Wire and more importantly, our opposition to play like Warrington did.

I'm not excusing it just rationalising it.

I now work for a large company but in the past, it's been mainly small ones which Trinity is.

In small companies fringe activities are activities are usually the job of one maybe two people at the most.

Imagine if the main guy is on holiday and the backup guy gets sick with Covid like I am now. Once that happens it falls apart, if that's the case I doubt anyone at the club is even aware that there is an issue or knows what to do about it. I can't honestly think of a reason why they would not if they could.

I know it sounds awfully forgiving for me but I've seen it happen.

Having seen the 21 man squad I think it mostly pinks itself again.

Few things I’d like to see for the game vs hudds.

Walker not at 9. This doesn’t work except in absolute emergency. Bowes should start with Kay interchange. Walker distribution is too slow for 9 watching the KR match yesterday.

More speed at the play of ball and less play acting and playing for repeat sets.

Some intensity in defence. Not standing flat footed waiting for the opposition ball carrier and actually pushing the line forward.

Some kicks along the floor behind Ines Senior.

To say they have a few out it still looks a very capable side they’re putting out.

I really hope Fifita is fit for this one.

Agreed, Walker has never been a 9. Would love to see him get a run in his actual position of LF as I can’t seem to remember him ever getting an opportunity. Feel as though we’re missing a trick in attack by not using him there.

Mostly I agree though I think Fifita would make a difference in this one. It’s strange because I was watching the KR match and there was effort there in spades imho. The intensity part I completely agree with as it’s not where it needs to be especially in defence. We far too often allow a ball carrier to meet out line gifting post contact yardage cheaply and more effort in defence.

I don’t think we were a million miles off vs KR but we need to react to mistakes and repeat sets better. We did this well early season and seemed to not let it faze us and roll our sleeves up.

The effort is there but we just need to channel it properly. The defensive mentality of standing off needs addressing and I put that at the feet of the coaching team. Just a few tweaks here and there and hopefully we will see our effort rewarded. And if it isn’t immediately rewarded we need to retain composure.

Am almost glad to have Covid and miss it and that’s a first.

Correct.

Of course, size helps in almost any position but it can be overcome with effort and intensity.

I think it runs deeper than that but the above is the minimal expectation from the paying public….

It would be a nice change if our forwards can resist giving away a ball steal penalty within the 1st couple of sets.

I don't think he ever is, he plays in spite of his general fitness.

If he's not fit he must be fiddling his stats as he runs further and tackles more (per minute on the field) than any of the other forwards.

He just seems to be Dave, and plays those minutes dispite his frame. Big bopper, eats pies, scores tries and all that.

Wish we had three of him!

We never know what to expect with this one.

Given his ability it was probably deliberate. I understand they are going to appeal again to see if they can get it raised to 4 games.
