Looking like a good squad in my opinion. Confirming Mathers would be useful, then maybe another utility back? Mellars can play second row so with Collis and Smith in the centre, maybe we could sign Murphy? But warn him that he isn't guaranteed a place?

Southern confirmed as leaving buy mutual consent in the Express today. No plans to release any more quota players.

Mose Masoe - would be great but will go to one of the other nrl clubs after him.
Trevor Thurling - Reported offered 2 year deal but family reluctant to move from OZ so thanks but no thanks as could be another that dont give value for money.
Paul McShane - let one hooker go to sign another that would get little game time would be madness.
Aaron Murphy - think he will stop at the giants not a bad player but no world beater.

Think with Agars comment today in the media that won't be freeing anymore quota spots up that he'll be giving John another season to prove himself.

Will he go for another English forward possibly Kirke/Richard Moore? Moore was signed by Rhinos for 3 years and has played 16 games for them although the last one was on 18th August so doesn't seem to be getting a look in.

Instead of prop what about cover at loose forward for Washbrook for injury/off form/competition for that position? There has been mention of Daniel Addy from Bradford. He's got the ability apparently and he's not small for loose forward at 5ft 11 tall and 15 1/2 stone.

Daniel Addy's signed a new 1 year deal with Bradford... I'd like to see Kirke in our squad.

13 is an easy spot to cover with an additional backrower or Paul Aiton, even Paul Sykes could play there.

I'd agree with Paul Aiton at loose forward should Washbrook get injured but not Paul Sykes who I believe has never played the position or played in the pack. Loose forwards normally are your top tacklers/runners, have some pace & have handling ability.

I'd be more likley to give Lucas Walshaw a run at that position if Washbrook/Aiton were unavailable. Hes got the size, speed & ability for tackling.

Still think Sykes could also play there as his game is similar to that described by Asmadasa, although he probably misses a few tackles too many. Let's face it, he's not really a stand-off either.
