It's difficult to believe that the coach and owners don't have some sort of conversation after every game.
So what's said.
Do they have a complete in detail analysis of the team and individual performance or is it on a casual basis.
Something needs to be done and any solution will require money throwing at it, and that's the problem

The measure of a decent coach, in any sport, is whether they are getting the best from the players under their charge and whether those players are improving individually and as a team and the answer to this is obvious, we're going backwards at speed.
Yesterday, even taking account of the injuries, we put in our worst performance of the season, in a long line of dire performances.

As I said, the players, for whatever reason, dont seem to want to play or, are unable to play for Applegarth.

The players need to take some individual responsibility but, a winless season, serving up dross, under a coach who is drowning in denial, is killing the club.

When ST holders are staying away from games, you know that were screwed.

The sad part is that when we’re down, the demise will continue unless we change the coaching set up.
I hope we do because most championship clubs would hammer us at the moment.

I note a subtle change in his recent statement which is that he is the right coach be it in the first or second tier. He is the one to rebuild the team, unfortunately his current record and team performances are clear for all to see, he isn’t. We have now played 14 league games and are still to get to treble figures for points scored.
The question is why don’t the current incumbents take the action we all can see is needed, could it be loyalty or financial either way the supporters are the ones who live with the ridicule and embarrassment that comes with Trinity currently.
The incumbents don’t even deem it necessary to confront the issues, I guess they consider us to be simple soles who are unable to grasp the issues, we are to be seen (but in shrinking numbers) and pay up when money is needed. This would be an ideal time to at least have a meeting with those who have donated their £500 to explain why they believe we are going in the correct direction. This would also guarantee a less turbulent audience because these are the ones who provided funds and at least deserve to know just what’s going on.

Yet another day and he is still here.

So the players haven't performed for Chester, Poching and Applegarth. Was willing to give Applegarth a go, but feel his time is now up as our coach.

Yeah, the stat about Tom Johnstone having scored more tries this season for Catalan, than Trinity have scored all season, really hurt.

But doesn't that show why this team is struggling so much compared to previous seasons.
He got us out of a hole plenty of times single handedly and when he didn't, Fifita did.
The problems have been here a while. Its just Tom's replacement then got injured and signed elsewhere and Fifita's replacement turned out to be a dud.

Poor cover at 6 then made it even worse.

Of course its a factor but coaching isn't the only thing.
Tom/Murphy was no one's fault.
Fifita leaving was no one's fault
Atoni was a big mistake but he looked the part so understandable.
Letting Miller go and then not replacing was just a really bad decision.....and we continue to pay for it.

There is only one thing more certain in life than death and taxes that is our coach will be unchanged regardless of today’s game.

One swallow does not make a summer, he still needs to eradicate the previous performances. I suppose you are just grateful for a win but sadly this alone will not stop us from relegation but it does stop us from being the worst team in SL history which is something.

We can't rewrite this season, and I still don't think he's the man for the job.
BUT ... for tonight at least I am happy to let the man relax and enjoy a good win.
Let's see if he (and the players) can back this win up?

For me, if they can back it up against, what are, a stuttering Hull KR side, with a mounting injury list, the season is very much back on.

I’m pleased this day for Mark Applegarth he is clearly a decent guy, doing a tough job in difficult circumstances… with some luck he could have had one or two more wins… and the table would look more interesting…

Does that mean he is a first grade Rugby league coach??

I was quite happy we won but an idiot felt it necessary to make a comment which was not merited based on how the season has gone. We can all congratulate today’s performance but we need to keep it going then such belief may be justified.

I still don't think he is up to the job, but fair play to him for keeping going and getting a win. As has been said, one swallow doesn't make a summer and we do need to back it up but I am happy for him that he has finally got a win.
