I think imports reduces down to 6 this season so that leave one place to fill. If the rumoured deal for an Aussie SO that means we have seen the last of Obst, Blanch and possibly Latu.

You do need a blend but at 33 and having struggled with injury the last 2 years you have to wonder. Also as a forward you tend to take more of a battering than in the backs.

Seems that the decision is made so we'll have to see how he goes. I really hope that we don't follow this up with the signing of Solo!

I think it’s the right way to go. 5 is a good number. It should ensure clubs bring only the best they can afford over rather then squad fillers.

I was more referring to the NF and ex players not the clubs fault but rules need to be tighter to create a situation where clubs only bring in the best.

IF he remains relatively injury free,good signing.

Delighted with this signing, a full off season rest, he hasnt any reaccuring injurys that pop up now and again i.e. rooney hamstring, solo shoulder etc. He'll bring a great deal of expierence.

Its the last we've seen on martin anyway with morrison taking over martins role as assistant u18's coach.

If he stays clear of injury then i think this could turn out to be an excellent signing for us. I'd go as far as to say one of JK's best. There is no doubting the guys class and his presence alone can only help bring on the likes of Ferguson, Annekin & Trout.
Our pack at full strength next year is looking pretty awesome!

I’m not sure I understand what you are saying there with "one place to fill". Overseas quota is actually 5 with NF players at 6 (incl. the quota players so quota + NF = 6) so we have to let some go if I understand it correctly.

From that list, Drew will probably go now Newton has signed. Only one of Evans and Martin will be here. Personally I’d keep Martin. Winterstein is unlikely to be staying. That leaves:
Tronc …assuming he signs
Stosic
Martin/Evans
Petersen
Obst
Latu
Blanch

If I had to lose one to fit the quota I’d lose Petersen.
If I had to lose another to fit the overseas no. 6, I’d lose Latu.
That doesn’t leave any room for Morrison, but next to go would probably be Obst as we have some young guns coming through in his position. (but I wouldn’t like it)

Happy with this signing, very skilfull player when I have seen him. Injuries a problem as has already been mentioned, but the potential upside seems better than the downside to me - and to repeat the other poster he has not had recurring injuries.

He is not a battering ram either, so I would hope the likes of Wilkes, Stosic etc do the donkey work and leave this lad to do what he seems to do best and run out wide. Snitchy on one side with Morro in the other could see us being a more potent attacking threat - and hopefully helping the ball get to the centres in better position.

Ball playing back rower is what we needed, and looks like we got a potentially good one.

Simply put I'm saying that there are five contracted overseas players at BV next season. The total allowed is 6, so that means there is only one more place to fill. Obst, Latu, Blanch, Martin (Cas?), Drew (Cas?), Winterstien (released?) and any other potential signings are battling it out for that last place, unless they are exempt ala Korkidas and Demetriou.

If there are to be some departures who are contracted for next season then this scenario will change.
