Been said before ,but is rebuild of a new team started the rot of the team we have got now, We have got 5 players still playing (because of long contracts) who were way past there best when they joined ,And if you put in the season when he wasted all the salary ,for players that were second and third choice players for there team .And was then allowed to waste most of the salary for the season that W Poaching took over you can see why now we have no team and no cash for players .Just brought in old players not young ones

Some of the Chester era signings were just bizarre. If all of the fans could see that Lineham and Gaskell were duff signings why couldn't anyone at the club? I'd have rather taken a punt on some of the academy lads and waited for other players to become available mid-season.

I could go back even further when a certain CEO didn't want a certain player.

Our 7 overseas signings are the worst ever. Only Whitbread gives us what we want. Tanginoa lost interest as soon as he got a long term deal. Lino isn't the playmaker we thought we were getting. Proctor and Langi are past it. Tofua is bang average and Atoni is stealing a wage

Atoni for me so far is just a total waste of wage and quota spot. His stats are nothing short of a disgrace. He has looked perpetually knackered from game 1 against Catalan with hands on hips after 10 minutes. I never expected us to sign a Paul Vaughn doing 200+ metres a game at what seems a breeze to him, but I’d simply rather of took a chance with a uk Player. We are as a club bottom of the league on metres made, tackle busts, average gain, clean breaks and top of the league in Tackles. Tells you everything you need to know. We are literally getting minimal opportunity’s to score or apply any pressure, Munster and Cleary would struggle behind those stats.

I agree. Atoni is a big disappointment. I hope its just fitness that will improve but its his running game we need. His tackle stats aren't bad but we have loads of tackles.

It's always the same. When we lose heavily people point to the fitness and defense when most of the time for us it is completion rate and field position.
Lino has proved when he has a dominent pack he runs rings round opposition, but he can't do it with a rushing defense on the half way line.

The stats we need to improve are post contact metres especially in the middle and speed and accuracy of pass.

It would be nice if the wingers ran with confidence too but good field position will do that.

Atoni is doing an average of 58 metres a game, that wouldn’t be good enough in league 1 never mind SL. Lino is second in the league at errors, so for me he’s either Tommy Dickfingers or too much pressure on him to come up with plays with the minimal time we spend on the opposition line. Paul Vaughan has made 1/6 of our total metres so far, that’s 1 prop. We are top for tackles, yet in the middle of the table for missed tackles, so our defence and effort is there.

I don’t know if it’s budget available or not but since Chester has come to Leigh our signings have been the best we have ever seen, obviously Lam is a pull as the Australia assistant coach but our imports have been superb, rather than names (Blake Ferguson was unreal) we have gone for young energetic fringe players, Asiata is one of the best players I have ever seen in a Leigh shirt. Makes you wonder if Chester was behind all your signings?

Chester left us with Lee Gaskell, Liam Hood, and Tom Lineham. Enough said.

CC wasted what budget he had on Gaskell and Lineham.

I think this comment sums up our predicament. I think what you say about Hood is correct but it comes back to that point again, would he get in any other super leagues first choice team? Personally i don't think he would and at best he might get a gig as squad player, which is a similar story for a large amount of our best 17 and is where our problem lies. Sadly we just don't have the quality accross the board to regularly compete and neither do we have any real strength in depth when the injuries hit. Our retainment & recruitment over an extended period has left us in a fair size hole.
