Just to add my two pence to the will the RFL kick out a club in 2012, I think IF and it is still a big IF, Salford, Cas & Wakefield do get substantial under way with the development then the RFL will not kick anyone out. I think the RFL have to be seen to be tough and look how much everyone at both Cas and Wakey is doing to make the new stadium's happen... so it is working! Even the RFL are not that bloody stupid because if these ground developments do start in time then kicking out a club is to most probably make them bankrupt, and the RFL will not do that! Widnes, Leigh & Halifax have got their grounds sorted outside of SL and if they don't get admitted they will still be there and still in business and able to apply in another 3 years.
The issue is who will and who won't get that sorted in time? I think the RFL feel that not all of the schemes will come off, I don't think they are wishing for it at all, just that it won't happen and then conyinuing to deny NL1 side a place is also very difficult for an independent sporting body!

Yes, but read the story, it was unpredicted and a surprise and the IOD guys says, right at the bottom, that this ain't going to be maintained. The Bank of England, as I said, has just down graded its growth forecast and while the construction industry had it's biggest growth in years, it was purely because schemes that had stopped or had been put on hold started up again. Leeds & Wakefield have two examples of massive retail scheme that have done just that. However, the Government has canned (for now they say?) 700 new BSF projects that were in the pipeline, OK 700 still go ahead but Yorkshire was hit hard and the 4 new Bradford school projects have all been canned!
There has been an over development of Leeds City Centre office space in recent years but that was because they developed two much residential space and many sites got switched over. Now that Leeds City centre residential space is in short supply again, they will build more flats and once again when they oversupply, they will switch back to office... what goes around etc! 
Don't mix up city centre office space with out of town office space, they do generally serve different sectors and requirements and some businesses use both for different strands of their business. |

While all this is interesting (hmmmm) I really dont give a , all I want to see is builders, hundreds of the hairy d buggers grafting away on the 2 sites, I dont care whos ground is finished first just that both are completed and that idiotic sharing/merger talk is banished to historys dustbin (get me)

Quote How are the applications assessed?
Clubs are assessed on criteria in 5 key areas:
a. Commercial, Marketing, Media and Community.
b. Facilities.
c. Finance.
d. Governance and Business Management.
e. Playing Strength and Player Performance Strategy.
Clubs that meet all of the A Grade criteria across the 5 areas will be awarded an A Grade licence. Clubs that materially meet all the A Grade criteria and/or satisfy the RFL that they will meet the criteria in the next round of licensing will be awarded a B Grade licence.
The RFL will then allocate the remaining Super League licences to those existing Super League clubs and/or Championship clubs which applied for a licence and met the Championship Club Minimum Criteria. The licenses will be allocated to those clubs that the RFL board believes are the most suitable, taking into account the:
=#FF0000a. Extent to which each club helps meet the SLE Strategy and the strategic aims and objectives of the Licensing process;
b. Historical activity of the clubs under consideration; and
c. RFL’s reasonable opinion as to future performance of the clubs under consideration.

Cant see any local builders or tradesmen getting in on the act at either site!! Can see it being cheap EEC labour for companies to maximise the profits on the build!!! So thats a blow to the local economy. Even after the sites are completed can you actually honestly think that there will be jobs for locals? NOT!

I have friends and relatives who have lived on Moorhouse Estate all their lives,they don't give a monkeys about RL and the new stadium ,but they look at this development as a chance of gaining employment as well as other people on the estate who are unemployed that feel the more jobs around the area will be positive for them personally. |

The latest news is all sounding positive. The only question I have is :
If we are skinter then a skint man from skintsville (nobleism), how are we going to be able to afford to pay rent to the Community Trust at the same time as presumably not having a full cut of the money generated by the on site outlets selling food and drink?
Not sure how much it costs us to run and maintain BV, so payment of rent may come from that, but how long is the rent likely to be fixed for? Leigh seem to have problems with LSV over exorbitant costs etc..
and therefore presume we are looking for some long term agreement at a fixed cost?

It's all been accounted for in the business plans for the club going forward and for the Trust as Landlords. There are plenty of potential tennants in discussion over use of the site and it all bodes very well for the scheme.
We would not agree to a level of rent which we could not afford.
Also, the idea of being tennant will hopefully lead to us being able to release any capital value raised from BV into the club to boost the squad and the infrastructure of the club - which will need to grow to sustain the increased size of the business!  |

There's no point the WDCT setting the figure for renting the stadium at a level which the anchor tenants would struggle to afford. It has to be a level which allows the club to grow as a business.
Part of the reason for the visit to the LSV was to establish the difficulties experienced with that development and not make the same errors. |

Sounds good to me the stadium and it's facilities will benefit and be used by a alot of people for various activities and it all seems to be coming along nicely. I believe the community trust and Fran Stephenson have been in talks and visited a number of stadiums so that they can get the best of out this project |
