| Difference between Brough and say Gareth Ellis is that it was about ambition to succeed and win trophies with Gareth, as he was offered more than his Leeds contract to stay with Wakey. With Brough it is purely greed, I say deadline 16th Novemeber then transfer list him.

Did,nt Gareth Ellis go to West Tigers for a lot less money than he was on at Leeds. I think wakie should cash in on Brough now because i dont think its going to get much better next season financially not just Wakie but for most club,s tbh and without Brough Wakie would more than hold theit own next season

| I say sell him and pay off the taxman, although no club will pay us top dollar now they know we are skint.
Bradford signs his drunken mate, maybe they will want him.
I was in a pub last month where him and Ellison (think that was his name, the office guy who went to KR) and he was being a right prat saying 'he' would sign Brough to KR.

| Either you want a player as good as Brough and the baggage he brings, or you want a mediocre replacement because there is no-one out there good enough or cheap enough!

| which clubs reallistically would be willing to fork out a decent transfer fee for him now though, wire and hudds seem the most likely to spend but they've just bought myler and grix ( if he's wanted to play half back ) Leeds another who have payed in the past but don't need him. Who else needing a SH would be willing?

bradfords the obvious one. we've got deacon in his last year with no obvious successor, plenty of cap space and the burgess transfer money available. and whilst not rolling in cas we're not as skint as people would like to believe.

Looking at our accounts for 2008 I'd be amazed if we signed anyone before their current deals are up.

Quote HAVE Huddersfield Giants got £150,000 spare to sign Danny Brough? Cash-strapped Wakefield probably hope so.
Brough has had an extended three-year deal at Belle Vue waiting on the table for four months.
But in the past week it has been revealed the Wildcats have been fighting off a £353,000 tax bill.
I understand £194,000 is still outstanding and must be paid in the next 12 weeks. So where does that leave coach John Kear's war chest for paying Brough and any other players he needs?
Giants coach Nathan Brown really wants scrum-half Brough. And the six-figures recently paid for Richie Myler and Ryan Atkins by Warrington raised the bar. Brough certainly ranks alongside them - plus Wakefield are desperate.

| The article actually says nothing except speculates on losing Brough because of the tax bill.
On the other hand, this is all getting on my harris a bit. If he doesn't want to wear the shirt, go somewhere else. We lost his service for at least two games through indiscipline, and so as good as he is, he can also be a liability.

| i too am getting a little fed up with this, but then again its not my livelyhood it's Danny Brough's so you cant blame him for going for the best deal possible, its just a shame that he is our most pivotal player and the side has been built with him in mind, people keep saying that we played without him last year, but we had Brad Drew to cover, will Terry Newton be able to do the same. we as a club need to have this sorted asap to begin pre-season training and settling in with a full squad.
so one way or another we need to get thie sorted whether it be stay or go.

True, but he's not exactly on starvation wages, is he? If he were a squad player on an average wage and had the chance of doubling his income somewhere else then fair enough, but by all accounts, he's well compensated for what he does, short career or no short career, so the bottom line is, does he want to play for Wakefield or not? If not, he should front up and let others make the necessary arrangements. If so, he should buy a pen.

Hey mate thought I would message you as i enjoy your comments. What do you reckon about this tax bill? Really bad time to do this or do u think we know what we are doing? Not sure what ted rich game is as he seemed v confident at the end of the season in getting the top players. Its a wierd 1.

I know this thread is getting done to death but it looks as though it will be all sorted by the middle of next week, i dare say i will get slated and for this but i am not trolling, there is a very big whisper going around that paul deacon will be signed by wigan early next week and broughy should be tied up by the bulls a few days later which will help you guys out with the taxman, but untill this is signed and sealed i know i will just be a troll.
