A tournament like this would be better held when teams can send a decent squad and the prize has some kind of meaning behind it....sadly, the days of the Wigan 7's and their ilk appear to have passed - unless there's a pre-season tournament involving SL clubs, and perhaps NL ones as well.

it isn't meaningless, its a competition that's been renewed and will take on over the coming years, ideal to show of some of our academy starlets and last years competition was well organized in a ideal venue to house 20k supporters that mull around and watch what ever game they wanted and plenty of snap on as well

No tournament is pointless and when Carnegie are putting prize money up then why not win it. For me at least 4 players from the seventeen should be playing

on the otherhand though, Kear has probably put out the players he believes could break into the first team next year, playing them in the tournament will give them a chance to play against super league players without the pressure and intensity of a first team game. It will be interesting to see how they compete

That Wildcats team may not have as many first teamers as other sides put out but it will have the Trinity SPIRIT which will help them a lot.

I don't expect them to win but it is a good chance to gain some experience for them.

lets cancel the last 2 remaining games or play the reserves against Catalans and Hull KR as these dont mean anything. There is a couple of players who could play and help the young lads out.

Money is up for grabs tonight and for the likes of Latu and Grix this would do them good to get a bit of confidence going into the play - offs.
