| Quote ="Khlav Kalash"The club appear to be doing their best with respect to season tickets, the 6 month payment option is a good one and would help to spread the cost at approx £34 a month for the early bird offer. It's a great deal when compared to the £20 individual match fee.'"
Season ticket offers will only appeal to committed fans who already attend games - they won't attract new fans.
The club's marketing people (person?) have got to be really creative in getting the club and games in people's faces and giving them offers that are too good to miss. Don't ask me how to do that but events like Diversity (I don't know if it broke even or not) pull people in (possibly for the wrong reasons but we have to keep offering good entertainment packages of which the rugby match is part). Also, how about a sliding scale of ticket prices Leeds, Wigan etc full price, less for the likes of Quins, Cats and Celtic or full price tickets for those games - go to two get the third one free etc. Publicity costs money but a cheap option is to leaflet pubs, clubs, shops etc to make sure that the public knows about these deals. And mwidcats is right - celebrate our successes!!!

Mentioned on another thread that casual support will not be buying a season ticket, so the point you raise I understand.
Perhaps a big presence in the city centre in the run up to every home match with a stall, competitions and prizes (tickets for the match) with Daddy Cool, the Cheerleaders and players. Raise a bit of interest in the busiest place in the city, make it seem like the home game is an event rather then just an RL match and you may have a chance that some of market will make their way down to Belle Vue (and Stanley).
Getting into Wakefield college, Thornes Park, Margaret Street (and the Glasshoughton one!) advertising and selling the concessionary ticket prices to people who perhaps will have more disposable income then most (no matter how much they plead poverty!).
Leafleting residential areas with promotions, offers and fixture lists could be an option but as ever the issue is cost. Getting companies to pay for advertising the leaflets with a promise of said leaflets being distributed to 10K (for example) houses may help towards production but then to distribute it may come unstuck.

Oh for the days of the club shop in the city centre....with so many empty units around, you'd think there may be some reciprocal arrangement made with The Ridings and/or the council to make better use of them. Bit of a drag to trail all the way to Belle Vue to browse around the shop on a non-match day!

| Maybe ask about getting a little corner in M & S next to where Ted buys his suits.
I think the staff do a decent job in the shop but it should be open later, why wasn't it open during the day on Saturday... I know it opened later bt its just shooting itself in the foot not opening longer hours.

| ok heres my thoughts
1.
club shop must be relocated, and art present theres plenty of options, my personal favourite being a deal with an existing town centre sports shop , (even if its jjb) for a corner of their location, from this we base promotions, peiople like us could gwt involved as volunteers to a captive pre xmas audience, in the case of season tickets and shirts. If not this at least rent a unit up to xmas and have all the things people want available, discounted season tickets home and away shirts, naked pictures of players etc etc!
2
Players to be available to these units to sign photos, books, shirts pose for pics etc on rota basis, but any big names ie tronc, newton, millard paraded in town centre, ok nicked his from puffball but its works and earns.
3
Family deals for every games to include season ticket holders, felt for one posrter on here last night when he pointed out it cost 72 quid a game for him to take family, if youe a regular and can prove it (loyalty card anyone???) you get 3 home stamps for example you get 2 free kids tickets for next game, what would it hurt??? in fact maybe a loyalty card scheme anyway ?????
4
nothing, there is noooooooooo fourth thing!

Lots of good ideas coming up on here. As always the question is, "Who will do the donkey work?" Well, 100 volunteers could cover 10,000 houses by doing a hundred each. Volunteers could distribute leaflets in the city centre or take them to a few dozen pubs, clubs etc. Volunteers (if there are enough of them) can make a huge impact. It needs someone to coordinate and organise activity and register the volunteers - that's got to be down to the club - and then the people on here for a start could offer their services! I'd come up from the Midlands and do it if it were organised and run properly.

Agree about club shop location. It's soo much hassle for me to get down to club shop during the week and on match days it's eithier too busy or I lose track of time in pub so only time I ever go in the shop is start of season to get new top and season ticket and odd time to pick up tickets for other games

| I was concerned by the crap attendance on Saturday - it was rubbish. However, it is not just a Wakefield thing...most clubs pull rubbish crowds when you expect them to be packed out.
It seems to be a RL thing, the thing is what can we do to change it?

Stop showing games live on SKY - oh hang on, they pay the wages!!!
Make season tickets a real bargain, like Hudds last year - too much of a gamble.
Sell tickets for £12 from four weeks before a game, put them up £3 a week as the game approaches and DON'T advertise which games will be live on SKY - this will mean SKY can't change schedules at short notice, but is this a bad thing?

| One solution I’ve recently thought of is encrypting the Sky signal so that where ever the game is live from, the local areas population are unable to view it from their homes. I don’t know how feasible it is or how popular it would be, but it would certainly put the stay at homes in a dilemma. I would hope it would push them towards the ground rather then just not bothering either way.
A little draconian, but it’s an idea.

How do you propse that to work? Sky can't mention what game they'll have on. He who pays the piper calls the tune, and if we have to move games for them, I'm sure the money they provide outweighs that of the minority of supporters who have to change major plans.

sky pay the bills so sky set the rules not us, end of...
The true problem is a mixture of the recession, and a large slice of apathy for the good souls of Wakefield who can't be d to go and watch a winning side!!!
The amount of people I speak to who say " wakey are doing well aren't they!" and I reply "yeah they are, have you been going?" and they say "no!!" is unbellievable!!! "Well I used to go but they were bloody rubbish so I stopped!" well they aren't loosing every week and they aren't bloody rubbish so get off your s and go and watch em!!!!

Yes but they don't do that for other sports do they and they seem to still get bums on seats. For important games anyway.
Believe it or not, I have a lot of time for Wakey as a club, I am just concerned at the message it gives out to get such a poor crowd for a big game.

Why don’t Sky show any football games on a Saturday at 3pm? It’s to protect the crowd figures at all football clubs who play at that time.
To be honest I don’t think anyone other then RL fans are particularly bothered by attendances. I don’t think it particularly sends out any sort of message other then Wakefield hardcore is support is about 4-5K. All four play off games were poorly attended, with reflection upon hardcore average with no away support it stands up well to the other matches.
£18 is too much money for a casual supporter to spend when they can watch for free at home or in the pub. Poor crowd, yes, a game to whet the appetite of those other then hardcore support, no.
