He didn’t want the top job at cas as it would of put him in the firing line in what could be a struggle for cas next season..
However he needed a job and this will of suited him.
By taking the assistant role he can hang around… see if any jobs become available, or if lingard gets the chop, he will by then know wether the top job at cas will be worth taking on..

This is an utterly bizarre signing for me, Wallis goes to Huddersfield on a four year contract and Senior to Castleford on a season long loam with no recall option. I know Cas are trying to cut their wages bill, but I can't see Wallis being a big wage earner, and Senior just isn't that good

Listened to cas CEO talking about IMG and the ground last night..
It sounds like the planning application has been put back to January earliest…
However even if planning is granted, they won’t be able to knock the stands down until after the IMG grades have been done after the grand final..(October) because they will need to secure as many points as possible for the stadium ..with the plan B …it looks like they will literally put the padded seats in main stand add some more lighting on the existing floodlights etc etc to claim the points … then knock it all down.

Someone on TRL Forum mentioned that Wakefield MDC had reminded Cas that the £2m RL Resilience Fund cash was for community and grass root add-ons. Any one heard this anywhere else?

Makes sense, but what's to stop Cas using that then ring fencing £2m from the planning gain. Obviously, the final product will have to be value engineering to account for the deficit.

That £2m may be the only cash they have available for some time though?

Unless they get planning in January and use the axiom money..

Whichever way they get the money it sounded like they intended to spend the bare minimum on bodging it up as long as it ticked the boxs

It doesn't matter to RFL. If Cas meet the criteria they meet the criteria. Doesn't matter how close they are and they can rebuild every year if they like.

So clubs looking to save a few bob would be better hiring equipment to get boxes ticked . Then sending it back until the clip board man shows up from IMG

If cas are going to install seating at the end of the 2024 season to qualify for the minimum number of seats thus getting the points … then surely they are going to install seats similar to those we put in in the south stand. Cheaper to hire them than the cost of proper fitting seats that they are likely to remove when their development starts

I'm assuming, but am not guaranteeing that they would check one way or another that the seats are there for the season.
I don't think they have to be permanent.
But they'd lose points on all the journalist area and probably attendance as people won't want to sit in them.
And to get to the numbers they need I think it would cost a lot but ultimately, I think they could.
I'll have another read tonight. I haven't looked it for a while.
