| Quote ="upthecats"Think signing Gale would be a big mistake personally...has been a good player but best years definitely behind him and just don't see him being the type of character that would fit in at Wakey...
We're looking likely to have three if not more quota spots free and for me I'd hunt high and low and put the majority of available budget into a quality 6 and 9 from overseas....as previously mentioned...a player like Brodie Croft can make such a difference....also look back to Salford making a grand final with Hastings and Lusick...two quality players in the pivots...
Huddersfield last season finished on the same points as us but went out and spent wisely under Watson to go from a struggling season to play off contenders....I know we haven't got their kind of money to throw around but again...two quality pivots signed there in Levi and Fages make such a difference...'"
I see the exact opposite tbh.
Class never goes and class is what we lack in the creative department. Also his career is totally contrary to what you suggest. His best years were at Cas and London, smaller clubs, it's big clubs he's done less well at.
You have to have a mix, and you need a few players who have done it all. We are a team who struggle to make good 5th tackle choices and it costs us, Gale does that very well. His kicking game alone would instantly improve our end of set options.
Just so long as we don't have to pay for his new hair I'll be just fine with this if it happens.

As for Gale i don’t know who you were watching last night but the one i was seeing was way off the pace, like he has been all season. A couple of badly dropped grubbers by us does not make a good performance for me. It would be more akin to the Brough signing.'"
Oh so his pack wasn't or the rest of his team, come on.
I'm not suggesting Gale is ideal or the player he was but we have a good history with end of career players offering us good service and as they say, class is permanent so why dismiss him. How many time are we going to fall for this, slag a player off based on his previous club form only to be lording him later. Westerman was the last don't tough with a barge pole player, and Finn should never be near SL we were told.
So what, regarding O'Conners son, why would he know?

Personally never faulted miller for his commitment in his defensive work but it was the attacking side of his game that required improvement ,especially on the oppositions line , where Ashurst was the usual recipient of the mandatory hospital pass when all else failed , and last play options were at times abysmal . Obviously Lino must share some of the blame also ,but he gets his nose in front in the halfback stakes due to his kicking prowess

| Yesterdays article in Total RL
James Batchelor says “challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone” were big motivations in making the move to Hull KR from Wakefield Trinity.
The forward’s transfer has now been confirmed, signing a two-year contract at Craven Park from the start of next season.
Batchelor, 24, has spent his whole career to date at Wakefield but has played his final game for the club as a hamstring injury has ruled him out for their remaining games.
“I’m at that point in my career where it’s not only about playing consistently, week-in week-out, but challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone,” said Batchelor of the switch to East Yorkshire.
“It’s going to be something new, I’m excited for some Friday night games in front of the fans at Sewell Group Craven Park. It’s always been a great atmosphere every time I’ve played at Hull KR.
“I want to really kick on at KR and be challenging for things every year. I want to win some silverware. I think we can do something special as a team.
“Leaving my hometown team after so many years was tough and I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision. I spoke to Willie (Peters, incoming Robins’ head coach) about the club, himself and how he wants to play and within ten minutes he’d sold me on it.
“I think how Willie wants us to play and what he values as a coach is exactly the environment I want to be a part of.”

Right up there with Peter Fox's famous "when I heard Hull KR were interested in me " quote.
Hull KR have finished below us in 5 out of the last 6 seasons and last season they played the covid card to elevate their percentages.
Hope he doesn't accept any lifts home from Brad Takairangi.

| What do you want him to say, I left because Wakefield did not want to match the offer from Hull KR or it is clear they lack any ambition. What he said was actually designed not to embarrass us which would you prefer.
He will be missed but obviously the club believes otherwise, do London have any other players we can sign. I wish him well because he did what he obviously set out to do which was help us stay up before he left and he never let us down.

| These so called quotes that come out after a player signs for a club do make me laugh, it's almost as if they have been taken hostage and are saying it under duress.
Batch is probably handcuffed to some radiator in Hudgell's office.

It just seems to me that one minute they're kissing the badge and next they have a move that they were born for. Just move on and cut the bull. As pointless as saying I'm joining a club who are just as as the one I'm leaving, the best coach in the comp has just walked out and they have retained a drunk driver on the books.
When Miller goes it should read: I've been offered more money and a longer (possibly) contract and Cas seem to be closer to winning something NOT I think Radford is building something I want to be part of and I've always loved the Cas fans etc. Lets see.

| I wouldn’t need to have a dig at the club if they actually did something positive on field rather than you beating the drum for not be able to generate increased revenue. They are good at not being able to retain players but PT do you actually believe they will replace with better.

So are you going to give them credit for all the players they have retained.
And I have no idea who they'll get yet. It will be hard to get better than Batch
But it's no different to Leeds not retaining Hurrell or Salford not retaining Jackson Hastings or Cas losing Clarke or Holmes or Wigan losing Gildart, or Sts losing Fages......etc etc.
Life goes on.

Yes but they have better squad players plus we have definitely lost TJ, Topou, Walker & Batchelor plus more than likely Miller, Arona and Aydin. The problem is that this free up plenty of money but if they believe spending some on giving a player like Gale a two year deal just shows they have learned nothing.
We should know very soon who we have definitely lost but finding replacements for a team constantly struggling, lowest salary cap and losing a large chunk of their first team squad who are improvements might be difficult. I know PT you believe and will support whoever wears the shirt sadly I don’t think this is good enough anymore, supporters want to see success.

We all want success. But just stamping your feet in a tantrum doesn't actually get it done.
Support in Wakefield is low. Even when we had success we haven't really had big crowds since the 60s.
The stadium is the best way to start an increase and that's on its way.
If we generate more money we can put it into the team.
The list you give is a lot of salary cap. Before judging, why not wait to see who they get.
And Gale is only a rumour on here so far.

The new stadium will come online a season too late we need to acquire better players for next season because if we struggled this one the next will be frightening because Leigh are no Toulouse. I can only base my view on the overall club’s signing policy and ability based on recent history and despite the odd success many have just been cheap panic buys. It is not a tantrum but frustration at our constant inability to take advantage of our survival by season upon season reducing the quality and squad numbers. I expect the next to be no different because we have no money but hopefully they rewrite history and actually spend what they have wisely and not on the likes of Lineham.
I agree regarding Gale but based on certain anomalies in some posts I expect him here next season and the one after that if we stay up.

No PT we don't. Only Scarlett and co want that, only they feel the pain and only they know the problem. The rest of us only have opinions, they know.
I'm fairly negative at the moment, but I'm self aware enough to know I may be wrong. In my head I know I have all the answers and I don't mind sharing them, but again I know this is a forum and by it's nature 99% of it is unsubstantiated gossip and spin.
It's all just opinion, it's just that some seem to have actually convinced themselves their's have some validity.
I've met Carter once or twice and I couldn't get anything out of him. I know from experience that Poching is an absolute poker face, he gives nothing away and plays his cards so close to his chest he's barely seen them himself.
All these 'reliable' sources, and people 'in the know' blah blah, I'd like to know who they are or who these people think they are. The BOD are as tight as a drum these days, the loose gossip of the Richardson days are long gone. There is nothing out there except for people with big egos wanting to pretend they know stuff they don't. Ditto if not more applies to the coaching staff.
I have an ego the size of a house but at least I'm honest enough to admit that I no longer have any insight into the internal workings of the club. I wish others would do the same and stop the pretence. It's over for now, none and I mean none of us have a clue whats going on behind the scenes of the club anymore. Just admit and accept that in truth we are all just passengers for now and that the clubs fate is not in our hands at the moment.
Knock yourself out speculating and dreaming, good or bad, just drop the pretence that you actually know is my advice to other fans. Enjoy a good bust up, air your opinions, have some fun BUT DO NOT TAKE WHAT'S POSTED ON HERE AS ANY KIND OF REALITY. That's my opinion.

Sounds ominous.
How can we throw money at over the hill players, but yet be unable to improve deals for our promising younger players.
I'm waiting for the next round of were looking at bringing in Andrew Fifita.
Mind boggling!

| Overall I think the club have done well in retaining players, although it hasn’t really made any difference to our ability to improve our league position…
We will lose players as more ‘cash rich’ clubs covet the young talent we develop above there own products… and it’s genuinely impossible to keep everyone happy as individual aspirations may not match the club’s evaluation (and vice verse) and in the current contract system where there is no recompense unless the player is in contract (or below a certain age) where players become free agents at the end of the contract… some players we want to keep (as fans) will want to move on.
I’m interested to see how the coaching and management staff tackle this (mini) transition…

I can tell you I know we have been rubbish for three seasons, I also know we have lost TJ and Batchelor. I also know we are proud to be poor but with regards ambition or lack of it that we will find out over the next few weeks but based on our recent history I know which way I think it will go. It is just my opinion by one based on the evidence of recent seasons.
I wonder if we are beginning to believe our own invincibility when it comes to staying in SL regardless of our squad or situation but unfortunately I think we have used up more than our nine lives and cannot rely on being granted anymore. It is up to us Wakefield Trinity to use this further opportunity to rectify our many poor recruitment decisions to start looking up rather than “well if we survive this season things will be better next” they won’t we may have a new stand but one in the Championship.
It is time for the club to use their large war chest of contract money saved from departing players to improve the squad, have we contacted JD at South’s to see if he can make any suggestions after all he is fully up to date with the NRL.

But you said we'd be in Championship next season so the evidence that you like to refer to implies we won't. (Though is bunkum just tge same as your other reference to evidence)

To be honest we should be relegated this time but I think our survival is more to do with the players own conscience and determination to keep us in SL especially those who appear to be leaving.
No one likes to be poor but we do appear to take every opportunity to bask in the fact.
I am sorry but your comment on JD is just ridiculous, I was merely suggesting he could be a good source of information but you appear to consider it a joke. I hope the club do not let you down with your unshakable belief that they have all the answers.
