I know it probably seems like it now but championship rugby isn't the end of the world. It would be a step down for you clearly but it is a great competition right now and you would be the 'big' club in the competition.
Just to add I hope that this doesn't mean the end of Wakey in SL as I have a lot of time for wakefield as a club. Good luck to you all.

How exactly would we save money -- contracts would still have to be paid up.
Non super league at Oakwell?? -Wouldnt happen -- not financially viable.

Might as well play at Collage Grove if/when the club get booted out. Of course Wakefield FC are unlikely to want Trinity there do to the bad feeling between the two when they shared BV.

Absolutely mate. That is where I believe the problem stems. They could have just kept out of it.
If they get their interfering way, it will not be long before Wakefield City loses what is left of it's identity, and our post codes stars with LS.
We will just have to see what is in the pipeline, so for now it's even squeekier time than it was.

Wakefield FC wouldn't really have a say as they are only tenants at College Grove. However the place isn't really up to scratch.

Champioship rugby is a meaningless competition and a total joke. Sport needs P and R otherwise its nothing more than a sham like wrestling. Like I've said before the RFL can shove their championship RL up their Harris I would sooner follow Rugby Union at least in the sport they still have P and R.

Can't agree with you there squire, there is far more Wakey fans in Sth yorks than what you think and fwiw I would hold off pooring scorn over this untapped potential you are convinced does not exist in that area. Those what live in the south of the city would also find that Oakwell is just as easy to get to as Newmarket would be and I am sure would tolerate the upheaval of going there for one season if that were the case. As for not generating income I am sure that some sort of deal could be agreed with Patrick Cryne and Barnsley MBC if a 12 month deal for the ground was sorted out where by both parties could be satisfied financially.

| I dont want Wakey trin to cease operating, if you lost out on SL where could you play??
College Grove is a decent little stadium, how many will it hold though?
What about Osset Trinity?
FWIW I hope you do get sorted out and get another franchise, same for us aswel, the superleague would be a much duller place without either of us in there

| Eric Pickles announced this YESTERDAY LOL...
Quote Today we unveiled radical new reforms that will mark an end to the hoarding of power within central government and hand control back to individuals, communities and councils.
For the first time, we will establish powerful new rights for communities, revolutionise the planning system, and give local neighbourhoods control over housing decisions.
Under Labour, central government became too big, too interfering, too controlling and too bureaucratic. But we will push power downwards and outwards to the lowest possible level.
Under Labour, council tax more than doubled. But we will freeze council tax, abolish Labour’s bin taxes and give local residents new powers to veto future excessive council tax rises.
Our plans also include:
•Putting local communities in charge of the look and feel of their locality through a new system of neighbourhood planning
•Freezing council tax for 2011-12 and protecting you, the taxpayer, from Labour’s planned tax hikes
•Giving local groups new rights to protect their local shops, pubs, libraries and leisure centres through a Community Right to Buy
•Freeing councils from bureaucracy by giving them more freedoms and flexibilities to act in the best interests of their area
It’s time to put local decision-making back in the hands of local people.

Are you serious? Have you seen what is happening in SL at the moment? Crusaders with a new name, company, staff every 5 minutes. Clubs in debt all through the league. Teams trying every which way to get around the salary cap and the overseas quota. Clubs lying/exaggerating about stadiums and everyone sucking up to the RFL to try and stay in SL. The focus is more about what is going on off the pitch than what is happening on it.
And you say the CHAMPIONSHIPS are a joke?
Seriously mate, I hope you do get your stadium sorted and hope you DO stay in SL as I like wakey. But if you take an outside view of SL and all the petty point scoring, bullsh*tting and outright lies told by both the clubs and the RFL then it is SL that looks like a joke. The championship fans (with maybe widnes excepted) are looking forward to one thing and one thing only... A bloody good season of Rugby League. Surely that is what it SHOULD be about and not all this franchise/licensing b*llocks?
If you don't want to watch Wakey outside of Super League then thats up to you, but you are doing a huge disservice to the Championship by writing it off as a joke.

Erm, the Championship does have Promotion and Relegation - the Championship is the top division of that system.

| From the RFL's point of view, would you let either us or Cas in based on any promises we make for the future? They have done that before remember.
While they have said 1 to definately go, i dont see why both us and Cas wont go as I think this news brings Halifax right into the mix for a place.
Im waiting for the M word to be raised again?? Having said that, where would we play? Neither of us seem to be able to sort it.

I agree with most of what you say and all that you say about SL.
But the championship is still a joke and the saddest thing is that clubs are quite happy to sit in it and accept their pathetic lot.

| Obviously a very dissapointing day for your club so I won't go on. But being out of SL isn't the end of your clubs existance, see: Widnes (grown as a club) Leigh (new ground) Halifax (rising crowds) as examples of that. If your going to say no SL and I aint bothering any more, why do you in the first place? This project always seemed on an extremely tight timescale and one knock back could see SL 2012 at a major threat, but hey you just move on, even if administration is needed you use it as a why to clean up the club and re build (as Widnes have). Less of income has to go on first team and you get your self in prime posistion for a bid in 2015 in Newmarket!

Championship clubs didn't get a say in removing P&R for SL, SL did so what did you want us to do about it? We have kicked up enough fuss but whilst SL clubs inc Wakefield back RFL proposals we have no influence as whoever goes down will quickly find out.

i don't think the merger thing will rear it's ugly head again, I think once Cas have put in for full planning by the end of this week we will have taken a huge step to securing our future and there will be no need for a merger.
I dare say the fact that we will be submitting full PP will be rubbished in certain quarters on this forum but my question in reply to that is, why would Cas (a club supposedly struggling for funds) splash out the 150 to 200k needed to apply for full PP if they could do nothing with it when granted.

I don't think anyone on this forum can scoff at Cas's efforts to get a new stadium.

| In 30 years supporting the club I can't recall how many times people have used the phrase, or similar phrases, death of the club. This is indeed a setback. In the short term this is extremely bad news. IN the long term history of our club however this is simply a set back. I have seen us relegated, hammered week after week, under financial threat etc etc etc. BUT we are still here. My 11 year old still naggs me to travel 160 miles round trip for a home game. I grew up watching us in dividision 2. if we have to drop down so be it. It won't be for everyone but for the long term future of the club this is a mild depression not a terminal illness.

In all honesty these fans from certain quarters on here as you put it would have every right to be sceptical for doing so, as a lot of your fans have protested long and loud about Mr Wright themselves, it does seem that he has led you up the garden path a few times. Perhaps one good reason for putting in for fpp is that it will buy you time with the RFL and will give you the extended time to get the right price for your own ground if it has not already been sold good luck anyway.
