| Good do really. Disappointing not to make the final but... hey ho!
The competition has grown year on year. For me they should put it on all day on BH Monday after Wembley, promote it and give tickets for a nominal fee with Wembley tickets. It would be a great day out if it wasn't on a workday afternoon/evening. Maybe at the funnypharm.
At least the wildcats won a trophy...the dolls won the cheerleaders' touch rugby tournament. I'd rather watch them play touch rugby than dance at half time.
Young Potts did pretty well in the sprint, was second but faded to 4th at the end.

do we get any money for the semi final loss then? or is it just the winner that gets any money? like a pro rata based system?

| There is some consolation, perhaps grasping at straws! The 2 lads who Jonh stated that we had signed for next season (Howarth and Veivers?) were apparently in the Wigan 9's squad.

Most of that Wigan squad that won it will be at other clubs next year. Both codes sadly, the salary cap penalising player development really is an outstanding concept (regards players crossing codes).
With Vievers and Howarth neither are especially talented but the key is to give them the environment to improve and I personally do not think Trinity have that and thus neither player will flourish at Trinity.

No - we couldn't possibly produce international players at Wakey?
Did Wigan win something?

He also announced Wigan as Wigan Athletic, but we knew that couldn't be right as the Wigan that were playing at Leeds scored.

Sadly I agree with that. Don't believe good younger players have reached anything like their potential at Wakefield in recent years. Not simply because they are surrounded by mediocrity but the coaching has let them down badly.

Wigan have one of the best youth set ups in the game, and have the kids in a great environment, it's not something in the past we have exploited to it full potential. Take players out of that environment into poorer ones and rarely do they kick on.
Gleeson is a fine example who for me has gone backwards at Trinity. Both Howarth and Vievers have some major aspects of their game that haseant they have not got a look in yet at first team, mainly pace, and while they may have a short term impact while things remain at they are I cannot see them bringing long term quality to the club while things remain as they are.
Hope this does not upset you TRB.

No upset - just thought it was ironic that we don't see you for ages and then, like the shopkeeeper in Mr Ben, Wigan win something - and here you are!
Please explain this comment. Not sure where it's aimed at tbh.

I have not been on in ages mainly due to the fact there has been so little to comment on from a rugby point of view. I have been reading just not commenting as the forum has been all about the stadium of Trinity fans moaning about this player that coach etc etc.
Regards the highlighted comment I do not feel Trinity have a top development system. They may have the things in place that aim to enhance the system but I do not feel the knowledge is at the club mainly due to dated methodology at most development stages.

That would appear to be a comment on the individuals rather than the positions they hold - although I don't suppose it would be right to ask you to say exactly who that is aimed at.
The first part of your post is correct and we are doing all we can to move on - at least with 1 part of the equation!

All clubs have people with the same job titles of those at Trinity, as I understand it, its part of the criteria for the franchise.
Trinity had an Academy winning team where are those kids now. I cannot think of one that has made the step up. I agree it is unrealistic for them to suddenly become SL players, but I have to wonder where they are when very very average players of the same age are knocking about on loan at National League clubs getting first grade experience.
When a coach comes in with the aim of developing the young players who is best mates with the head coach and also from exactly the same background and era, I have to question that.
The game will always move forward and clubs have to be ready for that. When it comes to player development I am not sure Trinity are.
I am not a big fan of certain ex coaches who were charged with developing players but I have to say when they have moved on from Belle Vue they seem to have done a good job and progress development while Trinity seem to stagnate in this department.
Several players who were on the books of Trinity in recent years as kids, outside backs, secondrows, and hookers are now playing SL for clubs higher up the table than Trinity, and they are younger than the Championship winning team.
I take nothing away from those lads by the way I enjoyed every second of that season for them, but I have to say it seems they have been let down at this stage.

Several younger less developed lads are now playing first team at clubs higher up the table.
I have to say whilst they are not ready for SL yet in some cases some and are stagnating rather than waiting. I also worry about having the first team coach and main development coach coming from the same era and background......where do the new ideas come from in that situation?!
