If the rumour mill is true and Carney is on his way to FC, then it's possible your right with what your saying, as they will need to offload somebody to make room for him.

Bearing in mind B Tupou has only just signed I suppose there's still time for P Godinet to re- sign, failing that my money would be on Moore, plus Michaels as Tigerade alluded to, just guesswork really.

Adam Pearson supposedly told guests at some event on Thursday that Carney has signed for Salford.

If folk on here are happy with toupo and Michaels great never thought the aussie was owt at Hull reminds me of Gibson about the same size useful but no more than that

I really hope we are saving the best till last.

I also hope that one of them is a decent half back. Whatever anyone thinks of our squad, the fact we only have Miller and Finn looks by far our weakest area.

Need Pita Godinet to sign to add competition/back up at half back with Finn and Miller...

Full back, centre and Godinet. I'd be happy with that

Not sure why we need a F/B, we have Tansey who is meant to be one and Jowitt who is and Owen and Hall who can be.- overkill maybe?

For me we need a real Hooker (Moore???) and a H/B not to fussed about another centre - again Gibson, Arundel, Morris and Lyne will suffice for me though another would be nice. If you can't tell I heavily subscribe to Kears philosophy on pivot players, you simply can't have to many.

I see Tansey as a player who can play many positions but not a master of any. Decent cover that's all. I'd hate to see Hall at FB again and think Owen after this injury will be far too slow to make an impact. Jowett is one to bring through over the next couple of seasons. I'm not sure he is ready yet. Would not be surprised to see us in for the saints FB, Quinlan? Or rumours of BJB from Salford. One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb for me us that we lack real pace in the backs. You can't coach true pace,With Gibson, Johnson, pommeroy (rumour) and BJB that wouldn't be a problem. I too like Moore. Get his head right and he will do well. I think Lyne is done and won't really be used this season. Lost his pace so could be shifted into 2nd row at a push for his strength? Things are looking better IMO. The squad has some depth for injuries the pack should do lots better if, and it's a huge if, we stay clear of injuries. Really looking forward to the new season

Pomeroy is definitely not fast and certainly no faster than anything we currently have.

so is it this season that the marquee signing is allowed if tupou is ours?? not sure but does it allow us to sign a player free from the salary cap and free from a quota place?

As said by others elsewhere now got 27 players in the squad so probably not many more on their way.

Can't see a specialist full back being signed ahead of a quality centre or half back. Gibson would be first choice but with Arundel really? We were very weak in the centres and played Bill Tupou there as a result. No creativity for the wingers ensued. Lynne is a winger nothing more and definitely is not a second row in the making, he's not big enough and does not have the skill set IMHO.

It'd be great if Ben Pomeroy and Scott Dureau were signed but probably more likely that Finn is seen as Tim Smith's replacement and Godinet will sign for another year as back up for 6/7/9 plus we make do with the 'jack of all trades master of none' utility backs in the present squad to fill the centre weakness since Colis has left.

Glad Smith is the coach and not you is all I can say regarding the above.

If you read the thread its others that suggest Lynne as a possible second row not me. As for specialist full back I may well be wrong but ironically like you thought we were OK there.

Unlike you I think we need strike out wide as weak in the centres positions. Lynne was ineffective, Morris is untried at SL, Gibson ok. 'Big Joe' Arundel is working on his game and fitness according to BS so not the finished article possibly. Nobody has really replaced Collis in my opinion although I may be misguided as you believe.

If the coach brings in a top class full back, centre and half back then great but this is Trinity so unlikely due to the finance required (hope I'm wrong).

Think Moore would be a decent signing if happening.

I would assume most people read what I put and think fair point and a bit of fun but nothing more. My problem is when posters start to believe their own hype, got the feeling you were doing that but if you weren't fair enough.

At the end of the day us lot on here only think we know what we are talking about - he actually does.
