The lad is not a centre, no natural ability for it. He is a generic rugby player without a brain and sums up everything wrong with the game in the UK.

Take a lad fit his body type to his position and ignore the skill development.

So your knowledge on what makes a good centre is better than both John Kear and Tony Smith then?

Both top class coaches who have seen his ability and picked him in that position.

If Offiah in his prime played outside Atkins; he wouldn't trouble the Opta stats!

The fact that Atkins is regarded as a top England Centre is a sad endictment of the standard of English/British Centres; he is incapable of putting his winger away and his defensive lines are appalling.

It takes more than size and brute force to make a top Centre..........

When he's surrounded by better players and has more competition for his place i think his quality will out.
Whatever his recent perfromances he wasn't given an england shirt out of pity and IT wasn't long ago you all were ranting how great he was and what an injustice it was that senior went to the WC.
I'd welcome him at leeds and i'm sure when you all calm down there's been many wakey players who's form has dipped in the past who you've not castigated like you are now with atkins.

A centre who cannot/will not pass is no centre at all, i got a lot of time for him, but I wish that he would start even offloading and if he can apply himself to learning, then we could have a great player on our hands

Huge over reaction and very unfair on Atkins. Yes he should have passed a couple of times and didn't this just shows that he will never be an international centre, whatever that may mean these days (not a lot some might say unless you play for NZ or Aus), but still is a more than capable player for us. What a surprise Petersen has left and suddenly he's the dogs dangly bits and it's all Atkins fault! I always stuck up for Petersen and have never rated Atkins as much as some seem to do but to have such a turn around in opinion on these two players is typical Wakey. It was a bad day at the office, a really bad day, both teams were really poor you could pick any number of players from both teams today who, on that performance, should not be playing prfessional Rugby League and we should be grateful we only lost by 8. It's done and gone we now need to pull our socks up and produce performances like Leeds/Saints rather than the pathetic 'effort' today.

I think your deluded! Atkins struts around, he's the typical jobsworth!! If the ball don't come near him it's not his responsibility!!! He never cones looking for the ball, even murphy came looking, atkins just stood on his wing.

your absolutely 100% spot on, he's got all the talent in the world, my problem is that he is just lazy, never helps out in attack or defense, if you want him I will gladly drop him off, because he is doing zilch for us!!

No-one is questioning whether Grix is a winger though, we all know he isn't but he's covering there as we're short of numbers. For me he's done ok, probably better than any other option we couldhave had there.

Atkins has a few poor games and holds onto a ball instead of passing and all of a sudden he's not a centre, never has been and never will be. What a load of e that is.

Ryan is probably a victim of his own success, he's a danger man and will probably be picked out by opposition as a danger man. In recent times he's busted a tackle and sent wingers away on numerous occasions, one on one I'd back him to bust a tackle and get free more times than not, but he's more and more of a marked man and is struggling to bust those tackles and get a ball away.

Yesterday he backed his strength at being able to bust the tackle one on one and had he done so he may well have passed further on up the field to put someone in when the cover came across and everything would have been great. He didn't bust that tackle though, similar to Paul Wellens against us when he made the same mistake.

It baffles me that everyone is quick to identify that good English centres are a rare breed and hard to find, yet we have one who is in the top 3 or 4 in the country and because his form has dipped we want to ship him out and get rid, he's still only young and has plenty of time to work on things and become a better all round player.
