That means we will have five out and out half backs!
I know we were short this year and it's cost us dear but five!

He's right but that's still one hell of a leap if you include Moore that's 6. still if we can put together a pack for them to work behind I'm happy

I don't think he is right, we had far too many small utility men in the squad and we paid for it by conceding lots of points.

You have a point however I do think JK had a better one and got it right.
Also Pivot players are not the same as Utility players. I agree we have way to many "utility forwards" and to many "utility backs". We could easily drop one back and one forward for a couple of creative players or "pivots" which is what we are talking about.
I know where your coming from however I think you know what the problem here. Unlike the NRL the SL is chronically short of big strong powerful players with good engines and a decent brain. Those that there are are instantly snapped up by top clubs and they certainly don't join bottom feeder clubs like us. Occasionally we strike lucky but never in the quantity required to win anything.
I think the idea of loads of pivots is sound if you can't boss the pack. These little nuggets like Sam Obst etc make countless cheap yards with their cover little scoots, side steps and sudden burst of pace and crucially relieve the forwards giving them a chance to catch breath.
Doesn't always work but it's an option, an option we have not had recently. This season in particular we have had absolutely no options for alternative game planes, especially with Finn having no off the cuff game.
Yes we need a bigger more aggressive pack but we also need options because no matter how much we improve next season we won't be as strong as the likes of Hull but we may have the options to beat the teams around us.
Truth is your right for the top six team, but with us likely being bottom six material if we are to break out we will have to think and play differently and ignore perceived wisdom.

| Could be worth a shout. According to Wiki, played 48 times so far in NRL so probably no mug.
At 21, would he be coming over here too young, just like Isaac John did. One thing is for sure though, at 21 probably wouldnt be on a massive contract at the moment

| Tuimoala Loanhea looks far too good for us if his highlights reel is anything to go by. Looks a fantastic Prospect and would expect lots of big money offers from NRL teams if he decided to leave the Warriors. Don't think any superleague could compete.

| TL would be a huge coup for any Super League club and can cover 1, 6, 7 - the whole back line to be fair. He is a massive talent and he can play...
Because of that I feel it is highly unlikely he will sign for us.

| Just been watching Salford v London
That was a good demonstration by Soward of how to organise his team and run a game.
He may not be anywhere near as quick as he once was but think he could do a job for us for 1-2 seasons

Great win for London, some useful looking players there.

| Rumours that Powell has pounced for another Bronco's player. Difference being this one has never played in the first team.
Just saying there are gems out there worth the risk of a one year full time contract.

| It's a shame we are stacked with second rowers because that Matt Garside looked a real handful.

| Yes, I actually agree on that one BOJ04.
Out of the teams that were taking in interest in him when he came over, apart from Saints, it was more the mid to lower placed sides in Super League that were interested, such as Widnes, Hull KR and Huddersfield.
Out of some of the halves that have been mentioned on here in the last few days, such as Broughy and Campese, Soward is actually younger than these.
Personally would rather we got him than someone who has only played about 20 games in two years, or one who has a disruptive influence within the club.
Also, was at the Featherstone game yesterday, and the two Featherstone half backs did not look out of place

| I think that we should be looking for a really good hooker, with Moore as back up.
Moore is a good player who gets us going forward but has spent too much time injured and suspended, which in turn has led to very disjointed performances when he hasn't played.

Unfortunately even if Hkr are in the Mpg, I can't see them losing as Salford look a beaten side just waiting to be put down.

| Going back to last Thursday in the Cats bar.
Chessie said he wanted another back rower.
Reading on the Warrington forum although Ben Harrison contracted for another year it doesnt sound like he will be high in the peckinh order.
Think in the two games although a bit rusty thinl hed gone ok.
Worth a punt. Any thoughts?

| Ben Harrison on a 2 year deal at the right price may be a shrewd signing.
Dave Taylor is rumoured to be leaving Catalan...having Taylor, England, Fifita and Hirst in a pack would be something!

| No he wouldnt get away with it.
He is also in a lot of bother down under at the moment.
Looking back at the middle 8 sides back rowers, how about the likes of Michael Lawrence, James Donaldson and Josh Jones for back rowers.
Think with Mateo going home early, I think that one will be dead in the water
